2025 RationalWiki 'Oregon Plan' Fundraiser

There is no RationalWiki without you. We are a small non-profit with no staff—we are hundreds of volunteers who document pseudoscience and crankery around the world every day. We will never allow ads because we must remain independent. We cannot rely on big donors with corresponding big agendas. We are not the largest website around, but we believe we play an important role in defending truth and objectivity.

Fighting pseudoscience isn't free.
We are 100% user-supported! Help and donate $5, $10, $20 or whatever you can today with PayPal Logo.png!

Talk:Q-Ray

From RationalWiki

"A Q-Ray was reportedly once used by Doctor Doom." It must be a very powerful thing for him to only need it once. Or perhaps it was useless. The relative certainties must be ascertained. If doctor Doom has a ray. he uses it. if it works, he keeps using it. therefore it must be non-useful to fictional scientists. in art, so as in life. Violet ray machines[edit]

At the time of their development they were part of a wider interest in 'new technology' - X rays, radio waves etc, etc - so in part a 'might-be technology' which became woo (or which might have an effect due to 'this is bizarre technology'/semi-placebo).
