VMI cadet here. At lot of the info about the after-effects are wrong and out of date. PT failure cannot result in dismissal and as of 2010 at least, the PT test is gender-normed similarly to the way the USMC does it. At this point, I don't see a reason to characterize it as halfway, the institution has mostly adapted and while the culture of the cadets lags in some ways, it's accepted at this point. Having a harassment policy is also nothing special, it don't know why that's noted as a triumph. — Unsigned, by: ‎144.75.175.204 / talk / contribs

Just to be clear, are you saying that what once was true (in the article) is not necessarily true anymore? If so, could you update it by adding in what VMI is today and, if possible, when those changes happened? It would interest me to know that VMI, which many years ago sounded almost barbaric, has caught up with society. It's a happy ending (the Disney version, not the salacious one)!
If a harassment policy seems like nothing special to you then that's a good sign about how society has evolved! It wasn't that way when I was your (guessed) age. MarmotHead (talk) 22:45, 1 December 2014 (UTC)
