2025 RationalWiki 'Oregon Plan' Fundraiser

There is no RationalWiki without you. We are a small non-profit with no staff—we are hundreds of volunteers who document pseudoscience and crankery around the world every day. We will never allow ads because we must remain independent. We cannot rely on big donors with corresponding big agendas. We are not the largest website around, but we believe we play an important role in defending truth and objectivity.

Fighting pseudoscience isn't free.

ListenerX, you don't like cursing? Is that an asatru thing or a personal preference?

Or... Are you being IRONIC? Like a hipster?

In my religion, a curse is what you put on someone when you want them to die. Scatological swear words are a different animal entirely: they just have to be used less than three times in each sentence, as is the fashion these days, if you want them to retain any of their shock value.

So you find cussing distasteful, or do you find it blasphemous? Is this less than three times thing a tenet of your religion or a truism of yours?

I was trying to be funny and take a jab at the fact that some people seem to think "f***ing" is a universal adjective/adverb and use it a lot more than three times in most sentences.

As to the cursing, it is just a matter of not saying something you do not mean. Many people say, "G** d*** you," but would be very alarmed at the prospect of the person in question actually being kicked down to the Lake of Fire.

Unfortunately, you failed.

Grouchy much? Would you like me to tell you a joke? There's a 45% chance it'll be funny
