Elohim City is a white supremacist Christian Identity cult settlement in rural Oklahoma, founded by the former Mennonite and Canadian immigrant to the USA Robert Millar (who was later claimed by his followers to be the "most powerful person in the Christian Identity movement[1]"). Elohim City made its big national breakthrough in the 90s in the aftermath of the Oklahoma City bombing, when little Timmy was found to have ties with the rural settlement. The compound is also known for its associations with the (now defunct) militant extremist Covenant, Sword, and Arm of the Lord cult.
An odd history[edit]
Robert Grant Millar was born in the city of Kitchener, Ontario in 1925 to Mennonites.[2] In the 1950s he moved to Oklahoma City and started a church. After suffering a heart attack at the age of 34, he came to the conclusion that white Europeans were the "true" descendants of Abraham and Isaac.[3] In 1973, Millar and about 20 of his followers moved to rural Oklahoma, close to the border with Arkansas, to start the Elohim City compound. In 1986, a woman and her children (also Canadian) sought refuge in Elohim City to avoid handing over custody of said children to her husband. This custody battle turned into a standoff with police, who eventually left. This first encounter with law enforcement made the community paranoid of another dreaded encounter with federal agents, and the residents of the city were alleged to have pointed guns at aircraft flying over the compound[4]. So much for trying to make yourselves seem like the normal ones.
