My mini-contribution on respect--Bobbing for apples 07:06, 21 October 2007 (EDT)

This was more of a rant than an essay, written as the thoughts flowed through my head. The main points I was trying (and failing) to get across were:
  1. Most religious people actually have good intentions, if not a good way of showing it.
  2. Though secularists "know" that religion has been a force of bad in the world, it's certainly not going anywhere anytime soon, so we need to learn how to work with it. I certainly don't like many of the ideals espoused by Xianity, but they're there, they're not going away soon, and I need to learn how to "work" with them, while simultaneously working to methodologically destroy their credibility.
  3. Respect doesn't mean acceptance or tolerance. I don't have to tolerate or accept Xian ideas, but I can afford those who propose them a modicum of respect.
I might work on this later, and I'm flattered that so many other people wrote counteressays. --HVista-epiphany.pngjimachong 12:49, 21 October 2007 (EDT)
