User talk:Penguinjoy0/BadMouseProductions
Is this good enough to be a RationalWiki article? PenguinJoy0 (talk) 22:02, 20 September 2017 (GMT)
- I'm an IP editor who only just got around to making an account, so take this with a huge grain of salt.... but I'm not quite sure if it's within scope or not. What's the skeptical angle?
- There's nothing particularly rational or irrational about anarchism itself; what could make it rational or irrational is the arguments being used to support it, the precise definition of the term being used, and so on. Unless BadMouseProductions is either using poor arguments or deconstructing poor arguments, or being attacked by people with poor arguments, I'm not sure if merely having an extreme viewpoint makes them fodder for RationalWiki.
- Writing itself looks fairly reasonable, but I'm not sure how on-topic it is. Citizendium Documentation (talk) 22:18, 21 September 2017 (UTC)
Pro-Capitalist bias in article[edit]
It seems there are some capitalist apologetics in this article.
“This can draw serious criticisms, mainly that the parts of the world that capitalism has apparently "killed" are also the parts capitalism is not that active in (the people deprived of clean water, nutrition and healthcare are isolated communities or during political instability, which global capitalists and capitalism are barely present). It is also apologetics for communist regimes, even though they've caused the deaths capitalism was supposed to be responsible for, meaning it boils down to a tu quoque argument.”
There are some problems with this quote. 1. It insists that capitalism isn’t active in parts of the world where there are poverty. What the author doesn’t realize, is that capitalism has taken the money in places where there is poverty. For example, there was wide spread imperialism, which made white people steal the fruits of labor from the colonized. The imperialists didn’t give the money to the natives, they kept it in their ivory towers, to make sure they stayed in their place. 2. It claims that communism is somewhat responsible for capitalism’s death toll. While I won’t defend the USSR, (I am an anarchist and hate the atrocities that was committed against dissenters, LGBT etc.). that doesn’t mean capitalism is any better. Look at the wages paid to workers in countries like Bangladesh, where they make clothes for pennies on the dollar, only to mark it up to sell to trendy teenagers. No one will argue that the workers’ lives have been bettered by companies exploiting them, polluting their homes, and giving them almost no money.
If you have any facts stating otherwise, please state them, and I will withdraw my case. Genevievegilliam (talk) 03:35, 16 November 2017 (UTC)
