What's the difference between cosmology and astronomy? I think this should, at most, be a redirect to astro. ħuman 18:46, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
- Cosmology is a subfield, the study of the universe. I think some of the articles here don't even belong in cosmology -- Nx/talk 18:55, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
- OK, I realize they aren't exactly synonymous, but I am curious as to what distinction is being made by putting an article in cosmo and not, say, astro? ħuman 19:07, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
- If it's about the universe, then it should be in cosmology, but since we only have a few of these, I think we can merge this cat into astronomy. If you look at Wikipedia, they have a ton of articles in cosmology (they even have two cosmology cats), so it makes sense to put them there instead of overloading astronomy. -- Nx/talk 19:24, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
- Side note re: WP, I found it interesting that although you can get from one to the other, neither is a subcat of the other. ħuman 19:44, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

big bang is cosmology, studying the planets is astronomy. Broadly speaking. Ace McWickedDisco Jesus 20:12, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
- So the "story" is cosmo, and astro is how we gather the data, kind of? Anyway, I still think we can merge the two here. ħuman 20:48, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
- Why not just make this cat a subcat of Astronomy? Aboriginal Noise Punkrock 20:50, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

- Aw, hell. I'm blind. Thanks Mr. Art! Aboriginal Noise Punkrock 20:53, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
- Cosmology and Astronomy are distinct fields. Deep space stuff is cosomolgy for example. Astronomy os the act of "looking" at it and gathering the evidence. Cosmology is the theory. Ace McWickedDisco Jesus 21:07, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
