ahem. My goodness, this brings me back. I remember posing for this. First time I met Pi, IIRC. TheoryOfPractice (talk) 03:25, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

I saw it and thought of Ken. Acei9 03:28, 22 January 2010 (UTC)
I thought we agreed never to speak of that again. Has Human been sending you more of his "art", Ace? - π 03:35, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

Delete?[edit]

It is used for the Ken Quote Gen. and works really well within it. NOT for personal attacks and that wasn't the intention for uploading it. If "used for personal attacks" is a reason to delete things then a lot must go. Acei9 22:09, 27 January 2010 (UTC)

The objection was that it was used only for personal attacks. If it is used on Kenquote, that is a different matter (although it seems unlike something Ken would actually use in a Red Telephone shoutout). Mjollnir.svgListenerXTalkerX 22:11, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
When I uploaded it I put it within the Ken quote Gen first off. That's why I uploaded it and it looks pretty funny when it randomly loads. Acei9 22:12, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
As discussed above this was uploaded for the explicit purpose of use in the ken-Quote gen. Acei9 18:57, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
Ok, now it's not used for the kenquote generator. -- Nx / talk 18:59, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
Why not? Acei9 19:01, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
Because I removed it from the Kenpics category? -- Nx / talk 19:06, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
Nx, why do you insist on these undiscussed, unilateral actions? Why can you not collaborate? Do you have any interest in participating in this community or are you simply here to dictate? — Sincerely, Neveruse / Talk / Block 19:02, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
Why did you remove it from that category? Acei9 19:10, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
Because that was the lamest excuse I've ever heard. -- Nx / talk 19:11, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
Well sorry Nx, it's not an excuse. I saw the pic on wikipedia and my first thought was - "that'd be gold for the ken quote". Hence the upload. Acei9 19:14, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
(EC) We don't have a commitment to be family-friendly or safe for work. Of the user talk pages this currently appears on, the user's haven't objected to its presence (except for "Jon" Cicero, who doesn't count for obvious reasons). Maybe it's been posted & reverted on one or two other pages, but how many "personal attacks" are we actually talking about? ωεαşεζøίɗWeaselly.jpgMethinks it is a Weasel 19:17, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
It's not used only for Kenpics, but also for my extensive vandalism of certain userpages. That should settle the dispute, I think. Thanks for coming. Nutty Roux100x100 anarchy symbol.svg 19:20, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

I think it's puerile. But if you guys insist on keeping it then that's your business.  Lily Inspirate me. 19:18, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

  • Delete: It was a lame idea based on a faulty premise. The whole point about Ken is that he's in the closet, so posting a picture like this undermines the joke rather than reinforcing it. Yes, Nx should have asked first, but I'm glad the debate has started to we can get rid of the fucking thing. –SuspectedReplicant retire me 19:19, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
  • Abstain: I don't really mind, I think its funny for the Ken Quote. Acei9 19:20, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
  • Keep: It makes me laugh when used appropriately to intimidate and harass. Nutty Roux100x100 anarchy symbol.svg 19:21, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
  • Delete: Because Nutty wants to keep it and we aren't friends anymore. — Sincerely, Neveruse / Talk / Block 19:22, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
  • Delete: No-where on the front page or policy pages does it say that gay porn is going to randomly turn up. I believe we actually frown upon obscenity, unless of course it's for cheap jokes. Evil word Phantom! 19:25, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
  • Delete: Agree with Nx. Mei (talk) 19:26, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
  • Keep because I too frown upon obscenity, unless of course it's for cheap jokes. Like this. TheoryOfPractice (talk) 19:30, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
  • Keep: we have quite a history of lame jokes & memes. This one isn't to everyone's taste, & I'm not that fond of it myself, but obviously some people find it funny, & I don't think it offends any site users as much as is being implied. It's no more obscene than, say, Jesus with erection, which we've made a point of keeping. ωεαşεζøίɗWeaselly.jpgMethinks it is a Weasel 19:35, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
  • Keep: because with this vote the "keep" and "delete" votes will be equal, thus leading to even more temporary uncertainty and chaos. Hail Eris! Sen (talk) 19:38, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
  • Keep: You know what makes less sense than keeping it? Deleting it. It is not violating copyright and is not overtly obscene, it is certainly not illegal. If we could find a proper use for it, it could even be educational. - π 11:13, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
  • Keep. Because I have confidence that if we do delete it, Ace/Rad/Nutty/NU will upload something worse, instead. --The Emperor Kneel before Zod! 04:45, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
  • Delete: because its ugly and sick.Waronstupidity (talk) 04:58, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Proposal[edit]

I can see us arguing about this issue again in the future. I personally think we should allow deletion without discussion only in the following situations -

  • Vandalism
  • Flagrant copyright abuse

Discuss. Mei (talk) 19:34, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

Format that with lots of wiki markup and templates so Nx will pay attention to it. — Sincerely, Neveruse / Talk / Block 19:35, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
That's already policy. See Community Standards#Deleting. ωεαşεζøίɗWeaselly.jpgMethinks it is a Weasel 19:38, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
At the risk of being unduly confrontational - on RW nothing is policy just because it's written down on a page marked "policies". You can only expect people to follow guidelines here if you actually get them to agree. Mei (talk) 19:40, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
So how is your proposal different? The Community Standards isn't actually marked "policy" as such, so maybe I shouldn't have used the word, but my point is that what you're proposing is what was already agreed (as far as anything on RW can be agreed). The Standards are supposed to be rewritten & updated periodically so that they reflect how the community wants to handle things, but I don't see a sea change on this issue. The above discussion shows that most editors are already in favour of discussion before deletion. ωεαşεζøίɗWeaselly.jpgMethinks it is a Weasel 19:55, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
I was just trying to solidify convention a little. Mei (talk) 20:00, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, what's with the green hair? CЯacke®

This is a debate we should move off-wiki to our discussion group. — Sincerely, Neveruse / Talk / Block 20:08, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
