Forum:Article for World Socialist Web Site?
I've recently discovered an article that I think we should dissect, maybe even make an article. It is called the World Socialist Web Site What got me so interested in its contents? It claims that Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama and Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd were levered out of office with Washington’s backing because they proposed initiatives to ease tensions between the US and China, right at the point when Obama was ratchetting up the pressure on Beijing. Before you claim it's a copycat of Land Destroyer or Russia Today, this is how they feel about China: "There is no doubt that the Chinese regime resorts to police-state measures to suppress criticism and opposition, particularly from the working class. However, the Obama administration’s statements have nothing to do with concern for democratic rights in China, especially for workers, whose exploitation generates enormous profits for US-based corporations."
Stuff like that deserves dissection. What do you think of the site? Serocco (talk) 08:20, 12 December 2013 (UTC)
- Go ahead and write it if you want, but prepare to defend your opinions on the talk page. SophieWilder 09:05, 12 December 2013 (UTC)
- I meant writing an RW article about it that dissects it like Russia Today. How can I do that? Serocco (talk) 11:29, 12 December 2013 (UTC)
- They're carrying on about a "Fourth International"; sounds like Trotskyites; apparently something called the Socialist Equality Party is also involved. Mildly interesting. The Frankfurt School vs. Marxism has a promising title, and actual moments of lucidity hidden among the reams of scholastic Marxism and obsessive accounts of the bickering of ideologues with tiny followings. - Smerdis of Tlön (talk) 15:55, 12 December 2013 (UTC)
- How to write it? Find another (good) article about a politics website and copy that style. SophieWilder 19:15, 12 December 2013 (UTC)
- An article that WSWS has? Well, there is one about how they feel the US-backed rebels gassed the civilians in Syria instead of Assad]. Serocco (talk) 00:11, 13 December 2013 (UTC)
- I think what she means is to find a similar article here on a party, website, or publication that you find informative and convincing, and use that as a model to write about these guys. Who are these people? Where are they coming from? What do they want? That sort of thing. I like Industrial Workers of the World as an example. - Smerdis of Tlön (talk) 04:43, 13 December 2013 (UTC)
- They are Trotskyists who espouse socialism as the way to solve all our problems, and they see capitalism as the source of all our problems. They are unabashed in criticizing China, America, Iran, Britain et al for their horrific policies towards workers, as an example. On the other hand, they firmly believe that the U.S. is funding Al Qaeda. Serocco (talk) 08:20, 27 December 2013 (UTC)
