Forum:Pets and Pseudoscience article?
There is heaps of woo around pets, i've heard of alternative medicine for pets. It's a big industry with lots of money (see link below), no doubt lots of scammers. Holistic Animal Medicines: "In our practice we prescribe a broad range of the natural medicines and have been very happy with the products quality, safety and effectiveness. We particularly value the “naturopathic range” as we have great medical results". - Dr Perrine DVM

- I think some nutty vegan groups (a la PETA, and some others, but mostly PETA fronts) claim cats live longer and healthier on vegan diets. --Raysenn Get the paddles, he's having a cancer! 15:26, 29 April 2014 (UTC)
- Homeopathic veterinary medicine is actually a thing, and a particularly odious one - David Gerard (talk) 10:00, 30 April 2014 (UTC)
- Yeah, I planned on writing an article on this a while back, or at least a section for the alternative medicine article, but it looks like something I must have never got around to. It's definitely worth covering. ₩€₳$€£ΘĪÐMethinks it is a Weasel 13:08, 30 April 2014 (UTC)

Actually, what's much more odious than homeopathic remedies for pets (whose only "harm", as with any other placebo, is in not actually doing anything at all) is the inadequate regulation (at least within the UK) of over-the-counter chemical treatments for pets, some of which are seriously hazardous. Bob Martin spot-on flea treatment for cats is an especially nasty example: there are literally endless examples from vets & pet owners of cats having severe - often permanent or fatal - reactions to it (e.g. see some of the horror stories posted in Amazon reviews or on the Bob Martin Facebook page) but it's still sold in virtually any British pet shop.
