Add[edit]
Are there any frequently used templates we should/could add to this? Locke Always Watching...... 15:35, 14 September 2007 (MDT)
- Here's my short quick wish list - although I'd rather have these as buttons acoss the top:
- [[category:{{1}}]]
- ==References and notes== (cr) <references/>
- There's a probably a couple other things I find myself typing 12x a day...
- Make all the text in the thing we have about 3x bigger, I can't figure out what any of it is without enlarging the fonts on my screen. humanbe in 20:32, 19 September 2007 (EDT)
Isn't the Sign your username a bit redundant when there is a button on the toolbar to do the same thing? (I still type it though as it is quicker than mousing around.) ГенгисIs the Pope a Catholic? 04:09, 21 February 2009 (EST)
- The toolbar button inserts "-- ~~~~" -- Nx talk 04:12, 21 February 2009 (EST)
- Personally I dislike the -- but it still seems superfluous. Couldn't we just remove the -- from the toolbar button? Some other templates might be useful. Like image licensing or the userbox template. Also why do the smiley shortcuts (conveniently labelled as Hebrew) only show up on the image upload page (when you don't really need it) rather than for text editing? - The smiley stuff was a mistake, I meant to edit my sandbox. I'll see if it's possible to hack the button, but I doubt it. -- Nx talk 04:30, 21 February 2009 (EST)
- It's possible to hack the button using javascript, the nicer way would be to change line 1724 of /incudes/EditPage.php, but only Trent can do that. -- Nx talk 06:36, 21 February 2009 (EST)
- Yeah, I saw you were messing about with smileys after I posted. I think getting Trent to alter the MW s/w would be better. While you're here, what would it take to improve the magic words. I've asked Trent before but he ignored me. The problem is with time and date functions I'd have to look up the exact details but the localtime function doesn't take into account the user's locatio (I'm just on my way to do some shopping). I would like to have a magic word which did this. Then the holydaze templates could roll over at the correct time for each user. ГенгисIs the Pope a Catholic? 06:48, 21 February 2009 (EST)
- You should ask Trent to change the sig button on RationalWiki:Technical support. As for the time issue, according to this, {{CURRENTTIME}} should show the time in the local tz, but it's not working and it's defaulting to UTC instead. I just checked on WP and it's the same. I think, but am not sure, that there are some characters missing. The specific one I'm thinking of is χ. Wisest bastard Hoover! 18:47, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
Please include comments in the the templates[edit]
When you say Fair use in the upload form it inserts:
{{Fair use |username = |title = |deceased = |low resolution = |other = }}
but on Template:Fair_use it says
{{Fair use | username = <!-- Your user name --> | title = <!-- The title of the article you want to use the image --> | deceased = <!-- Enter "yes" if the image is a person and they are deceased. Adds, "The subject of the photograph is deceased, therefore a "new" image can not be created of this person." --> | low resolution = <!-- Enter "yes" if the image is of low resolution --> | other = <!-- Add more information to help justify the images FAIR USE --> }}
The latter would be much more helpful in the upload form. Hmmph (talk) 01:43, 18 May 2016 (UTC)

{{Rights}}
[edit]
Should {{Rights}}
be added? It's a more used template than some of the others (who actually uses {{Vandalbin}}
?). Christopher (talk) 10:59, 2 April 2017 (UTC)
