Qur'an 39:1[edit]

The revelation of the Book is from God, the Mighty and Wise.

Qur'an 39:1 Notes[edit]

The revelation of the Annotation coincidentally also came from God. The evidence for both claims is the exact same.

Qur'an 39:2[edit]

We sent down to you the Book with the truth, so serve God, devoting your religion to Him.

Qur'an 39:2 Notes[edit]

This "truth" sure seems to self-contradict frequently whenever it says things unambiguously.

Qur'an 39:3[edit]

Is not to God that sincere faith is due? As for those who take guardians besides Him, “We only worship them that they may bring us nearer to God.” God will judge between them regarding their differences. God does not guide the lying blasphemer.

Qur'an 39:3 Notes[edit]

This references idolatry, a sin in Islam but something that makes more sense than obeying a single fallible man named Muhammad to get closer to Allah. Many people would sincerely believe that their idols actually bring believers near to Allah deep down in their hearts and, thusly, are not "lying blasphemers".

Qur'an 39:4[edit]

If God wanted to have a son, He could have selected from His creation at will. Glory be to Him. He is God, the One, the Prevailing.

Qur'an 39:4 Notes[edit]

God clearly wanted more people to believe that he had a son than those who believe that Muhammad was his prophet. On its own, this verse does not clearly state either way whether Allah had a son.

Qur'an 39:5[edit]

He created the heavens and the earth with reason. He wraps the night around the day, and He wraps the day around the night. And He regulates the sun and the moon, each running along a specific course. He is indeed the Almighty, the Forgiver.

Qur'an 39:5 Notes[edit]

The day and night are not distinct entities to wrap around each other. Also, while the motion of the sun and the moon are well-understood, Allah's role in their creation and regulation is not so well understood. Why do they need a god?

Qur'an 39:6[edit]

He created you from one person, then made from it its mate, and brought down livestock for you—eight kinds in pairs. He creates you in the wombs of your mothers, in successive formations, in a triple darkness. Such is God, your Lord. His is the kingdom. There is no god but He. So what made you deviate?

Qur'an 39:6 Notes[edit]

This verse talks about Adam and Eve. Evolutionary biologists almost unanimously agree that humanity did not start from a single human man and woman. Why would Allah leave genetic evidence pointing away from his own creation narrative if he actually "sent down to you the Book with the truth" as this book says. Also, according to several verses in this book, Allah himself made them deviate by actively sealing their hearts and blinding them to the truth.

Qur'an 39:7[edit]

If you disbelieve, God is Independent of you, yet He does not approve ingratitude on the part of His servants. And if you are thankful, He will approve that in you. No bearer of burden can bear the burden of another. Then to your Lord is your return; and He will inform you of what you used to do. He is aware of what the hearts contain.

Qur'an 39:7 Notes[edit]

Allah claims not to approve of this ingratitude after forcing them to disbelieve and actively preventing them from believing. Also, sincere disbelief is not ingratitude.

Qur'an 39:8[edit]

When some adversity touches the human being, he prays to his Lord, repenting to Him. But then, when He confers on him a grace of His, he forgets what he was praying for before, and he attributes rivals to God, in order to lead astray from His way. Say, “Enjoy your disbelief for a little while; you will be among the inmates of the Fire.”

Qur'an 39:8 Notes[edit]

There are no atheists in foxholes.

Qur'an 39:9[edit]

Is he who worships devoutly during the watches of the night, prostrating himself and standing up, mindful of the Hereafter, and placing his hope in the mercy of his Lord? Say, “Are those who know and those who do not know equal?” Only those possessed of reason will remember.

Qur'an 39:9 Notes[edit]

God created people unequally, ensuring that only a select handful of his creations can believe.

Qur'an 39:10[edit]

Say, “O My devotees who have believed, keep your duty to your Lord. For those who do good in this world, is goodness. And God’s earth is vast. The steadfast will be paid their wages in full, without reckoning.”

Qur'an 39:10 Notes[edit]

This religion defines "good" in a frankly horrifying way. According to this religion, owning slaves can be good, as can treating wives and children like slaves.

Qur'an 39:11[edit]

Say, “I was commanded to serve God, devoting my religion exclusively to Him.

Qur'an 39:11 Notes[edit]

Keep saying that without actually demonstrating that any of your revelations came from him.

Qur'an 39:12[edit]

And I was commanded to be the first of those who submit.”

Qur'an 39:12 Notes[edit]

Allah revealed this verse referring to Muhammad, who, according to this book, was not the first Muslim. Moses and Noah, both mentioned in this chapter, submitted to Allah before Muhammad was even born.

Qur'an 39:13[edit]

Say, “I fear, if I disobeyed my Lord, the punishment of a horrendous Day.”

Qur'an 39:13 Notes[edit]

A "horrendous Day" which the ever-loving, ever-merciful Allah has made horrible in the first place...

Qur'an 39:14[edit]

Say, “It is God I worship, sincere in my faith in Him.”

Qur'an 39:14 Notes[edit]

Muhammad likely believed sincerely in Allah, though that does not give other people a reason to accept his sincere beliefs as the truth.

Qur'an 39:15[edit]

“But you can worship whatever you wish besides Him.” Say, “The losers are those who lose their souls and their people on the Day of Resurrection.” That is indeed the obvious loss.

Qur'an 39:15 Notes[edit]

An obvious loss would actually need to be obvious to people in this world. It is not obvious because of any scripture asserting it with any level of confidence.

Qur'an 39:16[edit]

They will have layers of Fire above them, and layers beneath them. That is how God strikes fear into His servants—“O My servants! Beware of Me!”

Qur'an 39:16 Notes[edit]

This only strikes the fear of a loving, merciful god's wrath in believers. While many apostates suffer from religiously instilled trauma or some other problems, most disbelievers no longer fear something which they sincerely believe to be entirely fictional and man-made. Also, why would a loving god even desire such terror in his own believers at all?

Qur'an 39:17[edit]

As for those who avoid the worship of idols, and devote themselves to God—theirs is the good news. So give good news to My servants.

Qur'an 39:17 Notes[edit]

Allah, as an all-powerful, all-knowing, all-loving god, seems incredulously insecure.

Qur'an 39:18[edit]

Those who listen to the Word, and follow the best of it. These are they whom God has guided. These are they who possess intellect.

Qur'an 39:18 Notes[edit]

Allah could have guided every living human ever without, according to this Quran multiple times, actively forsaking those whom Allah does not want to guide.

Qur'an 39:19[edit]

What about someone who has deserved the sentence of punishment? Is it you who can save those in the Fire?

Qur'an 39:19 Notes[edit]

What about them? Allah created them knowing that he would never guide their souls to believing. Allah claims that they deserved the sentence with Allah himself imposed on them and justifies for no real reason outside his horridly capricious whims.

Qur'an 39:20[edit]

But those who fear their Lord will have mansions upon mansions, built high, with streams flowing beneath them. The promise of God; and God never breaks a promise.

Qur'an 39:20 Notes[edit]

The maximally sadistic overlord rewards those believers fearing the never-ending punishment that he created.

Qur'an 39:21[edit]

Have you not considered how God sends down water from the sky, then He makes it flow into underground wells, then He produces with it plants of various colors, then they wither and you see them yellowing, then He turns them into debris? Surely in this is a reminder for those with understanding.

Qur'an 39:21 Notes[edit]

Why should anyone see the rain and assume that Allah is remotely involved in any of it when several gods claim credit for it. The same question applies to groundwater and plants and colors and withering and literally anything. What in any of these natural phenomena points to Allah specifically?

Qur'an 39:22[edit]

What about someone whose heart God has opened to Islam, so that he follows a light from His Lord? Woe to those whose hearts are hardened against the mention of God. Those are in manifest error.

Qur'an 39:22 Notes[edit]

Those whose hearts were hardened by Allah are in manifest error because Allah deliberately doomed them to this manifest error.

Qur'an 39:23[edit]

God has sent down the best of narrations: a Scripture consistent and paired. The skins of those who reverence their Lord shiver from it, then their skins and their hearts soften up to the remembrance of God. Such is God’s guidance; He guides with it whomever He wills. But whomever God leaves astray, for him there is no guide.

Qur'an 39:23 Notes[edit]

This scripture is unbelievably consistent that believers can just feel the perfection. Also, in case any prior statements were ambiguous, as this book frequently is, this verse states plainly that Allah chooses to leave any people astray, giving them zilch without his specific guidance.

Qur'an 39:24[edit]

What about someone who covers his face against the terrible misery of the Day of Resurrection? To the evildoers it will be said, “Taste what you used to earn.”

Qur'an 39:24 Notes[edit]

This consistent scripture frequently talks about how forgiving and merciful this Allah can be.

Qur'an 39:25[edit]

Those before them also denied the truth, so the penalty came upon them from where they did not perceive.

Qur'an 39:25 Notes[edit]

This refers to several destroyed communities, with the evidence allegedly being in their abandoned ruins. Naturally, this book just asserts that Allah destroyed them himself for daring to disbelieve in him.

Qur'an 39:26[edit]

God made them taste disgrace in the present life, but the punishment of the Hereafter is worse, if they only knew.

Qur'an 39:26 Notes[edit]

God consistently feels the insatiable urges to threaten those vile disbelievers because, as the book states, he does not want everyone to believe and be saved from this horrid sadism.

Qur'an 39:27[edit]

We have cited in this Quran for mankind every ideal, that they may take heed.

Qur'an 39:27 Notes[edit]

Does that include, by chance, a way for mankind to move past slavery? Abolishing slavery would be ideal. How about treating men and women equally? Equality is an important ideal. Does this Quran say anything that keeps children (including Aisha, the child bride of Muhammad himself) safe from groomers? How about basic freedoms and human rights? Muslims nowadays overwhelmingly condemn slavery, child grooming, and dictatorial tyranny despite this book explicitly condoning these atrocities.

Qur'an 39:28[edit]

An Arabic Quran, without any defect, so they may become righteous.

Qur'an 39:28 Notes[edit]

Arabic, one of the hardest languages to master proficiently, is apparently an important language. While the formal Arabic spoken today is similar to Quranic Arabic, they differ significantly. In addition, many verses are worded ambiguously, so scholars frequently disagree when discussing the actual meanings of verses despite it consistently claiming that it is flawless and perfectly clear for believers who read to learn the truth.

Qur'an 39:29[edit]

God cites the example of a man shared by partners at odds, and a man belonging exclusively to one man. Are they equal in status? Praise be to God, but most of them do not know.

Qur'an 39:29 Notes[edit]

Surely Allah could have chosen an analogy that does not involve slaves. Then again, the creator for all morality sees nothing wrong with slavery.

Qur'an 39:30[edit]

You will die, and they will die.

Qur'an 39:30 Notes[edit]

And that will conclude each person's experience until a soul can actually be demonstrated to exist and persist after death in any capacity.

Qur'an 39:31[edit]

Then, on the Day of Resurrection, you will be quarrelling before your Lord.

Qur'an 39:31 Notes[edit]

Because, despite it being effortless, this ever-forgiving ever-loving ever-merciful god deliberately chose to mislead most of his creations.

Qur'an 39:32[edit]

Who is more evil than he who lies about God, and denies the truth when it has come to him? Is there not in Hell room for the ungrateful?

Qur'an 39:32 Notes[edit]

Who is more evil than they whom Allah has predestined for Hell with no hope for salvation? Could it possibly be Allah, who created hell, created a moral system with anybody deserving infinite torture, and created people, most of whom were doomed to disbelieve it and deserve infinite wrath?

Qur'an 39:33[edit]

But he who promotes the truth, and testifies to it—these are the righteous.

Qur'an 39:33 Notes[edit]

But he who promotes a convincing falsehood that seems like the truth, doing so with the same intentions as "the righteous" in the same way, is doomed to Hell.

Qur'an 39:34[edit]

They will have whatever they please with their Lord. Such is the reward for the virtuous.

Qur'an 39:34 Notes[edit]

Does this include any end to the torture realm in which most humans would eternally suffer?

Qur'an 39:35[edit]

God will acquit them of the worst of their deeds, and will reward them according to the best of what they used to do.

Qur'an 39:35 Notes[edit]

Allah could easily extend this mercy to everyone, but he stated here that he savors the damnation of most of creation and prevents them from believing.

Qur'an 39:36[edit]

Is God not enough for His servant? And they frighten you with those besides Him. Whomever God sends astray, for him there is no guide.

Qur'an 39:36 Notes[edit]

Allah, loving and forgiving as the Quran claims, wants the vast majority of humanity to endlessly suffer.

Qur'an 39:37[edit]

And whomever God guides, for him there is no misleader. Is God not Powerful and Vengeful?

Qur'an 39:37 Notes[edit]

Despite this, Allah chooses to mislead many, many believers whom Allah himself has guided for decades.

Qur'an 39:38[edit]

And if you asked them, “Who created the heavens and the earth?” they would say, “God.” Say, “Have you seen those you pray to instead of God? If God willed any harm for me, can they lift His harm? And if He willed a blessing for me, can they hold back His mercy?” Say, “God suffices for me. On Him the reliant rely.”

Qur'an 39:38 Notes[edit]

One could ask "Has anybody, anybody ever seen this Allah?" to the exact same effect.

Qur'an 39:39[edit]

Say: “O my people, work according to your ability; and so will I. Then you will know.

Qur'an 39:39 Notes[edit]

Allah often violates people's free will and takes away their ability to believe and accept the truth.

Qur'an 39:40[edit]

Who will receive a humiliating punishment, and on whom will fall a lasting torment.”

Qur'an 39:40 Notes[edit]

Allah is merciful, as this chapter asserts and as many others assert.

Qur'an 39:41[edit]

We sent down upon you the Book for mankind in truth. He who follows guidance does so for the good of his soul. And he who strays in error does so to its detriment. You are not their overseer.

Qur'an 39:41 Notes[edit]

Allah says "You are not their overseer." to Muhammad and also commands believers to obey Muhammad's orders.

Qur'an 39:42[edit]

God takes the souls at the time of their death, and those that have not died during their sleep. He retains those for which He has decreed death, and He releases the others until a predetermined time. In that are signs for people who reflect.

Qur'an 39:42 Notes[edit]

Which signs could believers see? No human has ever directly observed this soul in the first place, so how would people even test whether it even exists? Biologists can explain how people live without a soul and many find the idea of a soul redundant. Allah, all-knowing creator that this book says that he is, should know how signs work to the people whom he made.

Qur'an 39:43[edit]

Or have they chosen intercessors other than God? Say, “Even though they have no power over anything, and are devoid of reason?”

Qur'an 39:43 Notes[edit]

What about those who have chosen no intercessors whatsoever because they sincerely believe that gods like Allah "have no power over anything, and are devoid of reason" as this book eloquently puts it.

Qur'an 39:44[edit]

Say, “All intercession is up to God. To Him belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. Then to Him you will be returned.”

Qur'an 39:44 Notes[edit]

Say that and be surprised when people don't take your seriously.

Qur'an 39:45[edit]

When God alone is mentioned, the hearts of those who do not believe in the Hereafter shrink with resentment. But when those other than Him are mentioned, they become filled with joy.

Qur'an 39:45 Notes[edit]

The resentment does not come from the mention of Allah. The resentment comes from the immeasurable harm that believers in Allah cause because they believe that Allah commanded this harm. Any joy from hearing mentions of other gods is similarly mythical.

Qur'an 39:46[edit]

Say, “Our God, Initiator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of all secrets and declarations. You will judge between your servants regarding what they had differed about.”

Qur'an 39:46 Notes[edit]

Allah has absolutely no need to judge those who are exactly as Allah created them. Allah the "Knower of all secrets and declarations" supposedly knows everything from the outset, so any form of judgment is entirely unnecessary.

Qur'an 39:47[edit]

If those who did wrong owned everything on earth, and the like of it with it, they would redeem themselves with it from the terrible suffering on the Day of Resurrection. But there will appear to them from God what they never anticipated.

Qur'an 39:47 Notes[edit]

Cryptic threat after cryptic threat brings people no closer to believing an ambiguous word of this ambiguous book.

Qur'an 39:48[edit]

There will appear to them the evils of their deeds, and they will be surrounded by what they used to ridicule.

Qur'an 39:48 Notes[edit]

People who do exactly what Allah predestined them to do are evil because Allah predestined them to do evil deeds.

Qur'an 39:49[edit]

When adversity touches the human being, he calls on Us. But then, when We favor him with a blessing from Us, he says, “I have attained this by virtue of my knowledge.” However, it is a test, but most of them do not know.

Qur'an 39:49 Notes[edit]

What specifically is tested? Does Allah, "Knower of all secrets and declarations", need to test anybody when he knows whom he created for Heaven and whom he created specifically to ail forever?

Qur'an 39:50[edit]

Those before them said it, but what they had earned did not avail them.

Qur'an 39:50 Notes[edit]

Another unverifiable claim for people to assume...

Qur'an 39:51[edit]

The evils of their deeds caught up with them. And the wrongdoers among these will also be afflicted by the evils of what they earned, and they cannot prevent it.

Qur'an 39:51 Notes[edit]

The evils in question seem only to be that they enjoyed their demonstrable time but chose not to worship a mythical god.

Qur'an 39:52[edit]

Do they not know that God extends the provision to whomever He wills, and constricts it? In that are signs for people who believe.

Qur'an 39:52 Notes[edit]

Signs for those who already believe hardly even count as signs.

Qur'an 39:53[edit]

Say, “O My servants who have transgressed against themselves: do not despair of God’s mercy, for God forgives all sins. He is indeed the Forgiver, the Clement.”

Qur'an 39:53 Notes[edit]

Of course, he gives forgiveness only to those people not condemned eternally by him.

Qur'an 39:54[edit]

And turn to your Lord, and submit to Him, before the retribution comes upon you. Then you will not be helped.

Qur'an 39:54 Notes[edit]

Scare tactics apply to believers. After all, believers are the only ones to fear this wrath.

Qur'an 39:55[edit]

And follow the best of what was revealed to you from your Lord, before the punishment comes upon you suddenly, while you are unaware.

Qur'an 39:55 Notes[edit]

Allah revealed this message but chose to create most people doomed for eternity. He takes credit for them staying unaware.

Qur'an 39:56[edit]

So that a soul may not say, “How sorry I am, for having neglected my duty to God, and for having been of the scoffers.”

Qur'an 39:56 Notes[edit]

Demonstrate that souls even exist.

Qur'an 39:57[edit]

Or say, “Had God guided me; I would have been of the pious.”

Qur'an 39:57 Notes[edit]

Or realize clearly that Allah chose to not guide you because he wants you to burn forever.

Qur'an 39:58[edit]

Or say, when it sees the penalty, “If only I had another chance, I would be of the virtuous.”

Qur'an 39:58 Notes[edit]

Maybe God would choose again to rob you of any free will and misguide whomever God (not Satan) misguided before.

Qur'an 39:59[edit]

Yes indeed! My Verses did come to you, but you called them lies, turned arrogant, and were of the faithless.

Qur'an 39:59 Notes[edit]

Because the verses contradict, make little sense, and make Allah look like a tyrannical sadist.

Qur'an 39:60[edit]

On the Day of Resurrection, you will see those who told lies about God with their faces blackened. Is there not a place in Hell for the arrogant?

Qur'an 39:60 Notes[edit]

This compilation of threats can only scare believers into submission and convince believers to dehumanize disbelievers. It repeatedly talks about disbelievers as fools who choose to transgress and lie, despite Allah deciding to prevent them outright from believing the "truth" to even be true. This compilation of annotations is repetitive in response to repetitive threats and misrepresentations of people whom a "Forgiver, the Clement" created to be infinitely misled.

Qur'an 39:61[edit]

And God will save those who maintained righteousness to their place of salvation. No harm will touch them, nor will they grieve.

Qur'an 39:61 Notes[edit]

Believers will know who makes it to Heaven and who goes to Hell. Children finding their parents, grandparents, siblings, friends, and other loved ones will not grieve. Many parents will, per this book, see their children, see them burning in Hell, fully comprehend what happens forever, and laugh at their misery. According to this verse, these people, righteous people in Heaven, will not grieve. GIVE ME A BREAK!

Qur'an 39:62[edit]

God is the Creator of all things, and He is in Charge of all things.

Qur'an 39:62 Notes[edit]

God is the creator of nothing. He was created. He was only ever a fictional character.

Qur'an 39:63[edit]

To Him belong the reins of the heavens and the earth. But those who blaspheme against the revelations of God—it is they who are the losers.

Qur'an 39:63 Notes[edit]

This "truthful" book would not need this repetition and dehumanization of disbelievers. This book can just provide evidence backing its outlandish claims if it truly contains the truthful messages described here.

Qur'an 39:64[edit]

Say, “Is it other than God you instruct me to worship, you ignorant ones?”

Qur'an 39:64 Notes[edit]

Better idea: Don't say that.

Qur'an 39:65[edit]

It was revealed to you, and to those before you, that if you idolize, your works will be in vain, and you will be of the losers.

Qur'an 39:65 Notes[edit]

It was stated several times in an unconvincing way.

Qur'an 39:66[edit]

Rather, worship God, and be of the appreciative.

Qur'an 39:66 Notes[edit]

Appreciation is just obedience and blind faith.

Qur'an 39:67[edit]

They have not esteemed God as He ought to be esteemed. The entire earth will be in His grip on the Day of Resurrection, and the heavens will be folded in His right. Immaculate is He, and Transcendent He is beyond the associations they make.

Qur'an 39:67 Notes[edit]

Allah ought be esteemed only as far as he is demonstrated to exist and also deserve it.

Qur'an 39:68[edit]

And the Trumpet will be sounded, whereupon everyone in the heavens and the earth will be stunned, except whomever God wills. Then it will be sounded another time, whereupon they will rise up, looking on.

Qur'an 39:68 Notes[edit]

Necromancer trumpet blowers are a thing that makes sense here, apparently.

Qur'an 39:69[edit]

And the earth will shine with the Light of its Lord; and the Book will be put in place; and the prophets and the witnesses will be brought in; and Judgment will be passed among them equitably, and they will not be wronged.

Qur'an 39:69 Notes[edit]

What does it mean for anyone whatsoever to "be wronged" exactly? Does being created to suffer infinitely count as being "wronged" or what?

Qur'an 39:70[edit]

And every soul will be fully compensated for what it had done. He is well aware of what they do.

Qur'an 39:70 Notes[edit]

Several verses earlier in this very chapter, this book stated, quite clearly, that this same Allah will look the other way regarding the sins of those whom he has allowed to believe. Additionally, an earlier verse stated that this revelation has no contradictions. A contradiction, no matter how minor, is enough proof against the claims that the Quran is perfectly truthful.

Qur'an 39:71[edit]

Those who disbelieved will be driven to Hell in throngs. Until, when they have reached it, and its gates are opened, its keepers will say to them, “Did not messengers from among you come to you, reciting to you the revelations of your Lord, and warning you of the meeting of this Day of yours?” They will say, “Yes, but the verdict of punishment is justified against the disbelievers.”

Qur'an 39:71 Notes[edit]

This verse, diabolical as it is, does not deserve a response.

Qur'an 39:72[edit]

It will be said, “Enter the gates of Hell, to abide therein eternally.” How wretched is the destination of the arrogant.

Qur'an 39:72 Notes[edit]

Neither does this.

Qur'an 39:73[edit]

And those who feared their Lord will be led to Paradise in throngs. Until, when they have reached it, and its gates are opened, its keepers will say to them, “Peace be upon you, you have been good, so enter it, to abide therein eternally.”

Qur'an 39:73 Notes[edit]

"Enter Heaven. Completely forget any loved ones from the lesser world whom I damned and predestined to suffer infinitely, as you will not grieve them here."

Qur'an 39:74[edit]

And they will say, “Praise be to God, who has fulfilled His promise to us, and made us inherit the land, enjoying Paradise as we please.” How excellent is the reward of the workers.

Qur'an 39:74 Notes[edit]

The promises of this capricious despot are nowhere near praiseworthy to anyone. Anybody with any compassion will agree there.

Qur'an 39:75[edit]

And you will see the angels hovering around the Throne, glorifying their Lord with praise. And it will be judged between them equitably, and it will be said, “Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds.”

Qur'an 39:75 Notes[edit]

It will be said by beings who absolutely have to do exactly as this despot commands.
