Qur'an 89:1[edit]

By the daybreak.

Qur'an 89:1 Notes[edit]

Occurs in the morning when you first see light

Qur'an 89:2[edit]

And ten nights.

Qur'an 89:2 Notes[edit]

Night time is when the sun goes down. The divine messenger must be talking about ten of these.

Qur'an 89:3[edit]

And the even and the odd.

Qur'an 89:3 Notes[edit]

Even numbers are 0, 2, -2 and multiples of 2. Odd numbers are everything else.

Qur'an 89:4[edit]

And the night as it recedes.

Qur'an 89:4 Notes[edit]

At some point night time is going to leave us, perhaps for a two week vacation?

Qur'an 89:5[edit]

Is there in this an oath for a rational person?

Qur'an 89:5 Notes[edit]

Intelligent people should be able to recognise a reasonable deal when they see one.

Qur'an 89:6[edit]

Have you not seen how your Lord dealt with Aad?

Qur'an 89:6 Notes[edit]

The sky-God wants to remind you of the utter horror the sky-God unleashed on the tribe of A'ad during one of the sky-God's temper tantrums.

Qur'an 89:7[edit]

Erum of the pillars.

Qur'an 89:7 Notes[edit]

The pillars of this city fell down...perhaps a source of inspiration for when recent dedicated followers blew up the pillars of Palmyra.

Qur'an 89:8[edit]

The like of which was never created in the land.

Qur'an 89:8 Notes[edit]

The sky-God is not impressed when man achieves great things.

Qur'an 89:9[edit]

And Thamood—those who carved the rocks in the valley.

Qur'an 89:9 Notes[edit]

And the sky-God blames an entire tribe for the sins of some of the tribe members.

Qur'an 89:10[edit]

And Pharaoh of the Stakes.

Qur'an 89:10 Notes[edit]

The sky-God constantly resents humans who have power over mankind, especially over those who refuse to grovel to the sky-God with endless praise.

Qur'an 89:11[edit]

Those who committed excesses in the lands.

Qur'an 89:11 Notes[edit]

The forgiving compassionate sky-God is not amused by those who resist him/her.

Qur'an 89:12[edit]

And spread much corruption therein.

Qur'an 89:12 Notes[edit]

Corruption in politics is apparently a bad thing, something that any nation with sky-God followers should be completely free from. The sky-God must be eternally pissed off by countries like Egypt, Liberia, Pakistan and Indonesia.

Qur'an 89:13[edit]

So your Lord poured down upon them a scourge of punishment.

Qur'an 89:13 Notes[edit]

The forgiving and loving sky-God made the non-believers suffer a catastrophic, painful and mutilating end to their lives and way of life.

Qur'an 89:14[edit]

Your Lord is on the lookout.

Qur'an 89:14 Notes[edit]

The sky-God is a master spy and keeps extremely good records of everything you do. Perhaps with the aid of quantum-computing?

Qur'an 89:15[edit]

As for man, whenever his Lord tests him, and honors him, and prospers him, he says, “My Lord has honored me.”

Qur'an 89:15 Notes[edit]

When the sky-God is helpful, the sky-God's followers say this outloud.

Qur'an 89:16[edit]

But whenever He tests him, and restricts his livelihood for him, he says, “My Lord has insulted me.”

Qur'an 89:16 Notes[edit]

Whe the sky-God tells people how to live, they feel oppressed.

Qur'an 89:17[edit]

Not at all. But you do not honor the orphan.

Qur'an 89:17 Notes[edit]

Non-believers are apparently monsters who couldn't care less about orphans

Qur'an 89:18[edit]

And you do not urge the feeding of the poor.

Qur'an 89:18 Notes[edit]

Non-believers are completely indifferent to people starving in the street.

Qur'an 89:19[edit]

And you devour inheritance with all greed.

Qur'an 89:19 Notes[edit]

Non-believers take the resources around them (like oil for example) and squander it (on nice cars and palaces for example) without regard to the past.

Qur'an 89:20[edit]

And you love wealth with immense love.

Qur'an 89:20 Notes[edit]

sky-God believers are money grubbing vultures with big noses who swim in ponds filled with gold.

Qur'an 89:21[edit]

No—when the earth is leveled, pounded, and crushed.

Qur'an 89:21 Notes[edit]

The sky-God one day will use a pressure-hose to blast the Earth, and then use various strengths of sandpaper to smoothe it over, all done, of course, on a three dimensional spheroid. It is not clear if the Sky-God will allow for the slight bulge in the equatorial region or if it will be flattened into a perfect sphere.

Qur'an 89:22[edit]

And your Lord comes, with the angels, row after row.

Qur'an 89:22 Notes[edit]

The sky-God will send his winged-slaves to do his dirty work.

Qur'an 89:23[edit]

And on that Day, Hell is brought forward. On that Day, man will remember, but how will remembrance avail him?

Qur'an 89:23 Notes[edit]

And the sky-God will show the summit of his/her love and forgiveness by firing up the underground torture chamber

Qur'an 89:24[edit]

He will say, “If only I had forwarded for my life.”

Qur'an 89:24 Notes[edit]

Some will say: "Oops. I should have taken this crazy sky-God stuff seriously".

Qur'an 89:25[edit]

On that Day, none will punish as He punishes.

Qur'an 89:25 Notes[edit]

"Seems like I'm in for a pretty terrible afterlife".

Qur'an 89:26[edit]

And none will shackle as He shackles.

Qur'an 89:26 Notes[edit]

No one is better than the sky-God when it comes to holding and acting on grudges.

Qur'an 89:27[edit]

But as for you, O tranquil soul.

Qur'an 89:27 Notes[edit]

Sky-God followers will see a different side of the sky-God's endless love and compassion.

Qur'an 89:28[edit]

Return to your Lord, pleased and accepted.

Qur'an 89:28 Notes[edit]

They won't be burned forever in the underground torture chamber.

Qur'an 89:29[edit]

Enter among My servants.

Qur'an 89:29 Notes[edit]

They will live a wonderful happy set of endless days, in a setting remarkably similar to the culture on the Saudi Arabian peninsula in the 9th century.

Qur'an 89:30[edit]

Enter My Paradise.

Qur'an 89:30 Notes[edit]

Come and eat grapes and drink wine and fornicate. There are no limits here. Enjoy these lovely times and try to forget about old friends and family members who are suffering intolerable agony below in the underground torture chamber.
