Qur'an 69:1[edit]

The Reality.

Qur'an 69:1 Notes[edit]

That this book fails to describe accurate.

Qur'an 69:2[edit]

What is the Reality?

Qur'an 69:2 Notes[edit]

The human authors of his book have no idea.

Qur'an 69:3[edit]

What will make you understand what the Reality is?

Qur'an 69:3 Notes[edit]

Not a book that believes in a solid sky over a flat earth, that's for sure.

Qur'an 69:4[edit]

Thamood and Aad denied the Catastrophe.

Qur'an 69:4 Notes[edit]

To be fair, what evidence could anybody see to verify that such a Catastrophe happened?

Qur'an 69:5[edit]

As for Thamood, they were annihilated by the Overwhelming.

Qur'an 69:5 Notes[edit]

Allah could at least provide evidence when bragging about his genocidal exploits.

Qur'an 69:6[edit]

And as for Aad; they were annihilated by a furious, roaring wind.

Qur'an 69:6 Notes[edit]

Genocide by hurricane now. How lovely of you, Allah.

Qur'an 69:7[edit]

He unleashed it upon them for seven nights and eight days, in succession. You could see the people tossed around, as though they were stumps of hollow palm-trees.

Qur'an 69:7 Notes[edit]

This collective punishment is somehow deserved because the people of Aad didn't believe some outlandish fables.

Qur'an 69:8[edit]

Can you see any remnant of them?

Qur'an 69:8 Notes[edit]

Presumably, their ruins do still exist in some parts of the Middle East. That being said, these ruins don't come with evidence that the people of Aad were tossed around in a storm as punishment for whatever arbitrary crime Allah wants to punish them for.

Qur'an 69:9[edit]

Then Pharaoh came, and those before him, and the Overturned Cities steeped in sin.

Qur'an 69:9 Notes[edit]

Which Pharaoh? Allah knows that "Pharaoh" was a title for many leaders and not just a single historical figure, right? Either way, Allah was the one who steeped them in sin.

Qur'an 69:10[edit]

But they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with an overpowering grip.

Qur'an 69:10 Notes[edit]

To be fair, this messenger failed to bring proper evidence that he was actually a messenger of their Lord or that this fabled Allah even exists. That is, if the messenger himself existed as described by the Quran.

Qur'an 69:11[edit]

When the waters overflowed, We carried you in the cruising ship.

Qur'an 69:11 Notes[edit]

Is the Quran suddenly moving to Noah's story? The story where Allah supposedly flooded the entire earth except for Noah and anybody else onboard a single sea vessel? This chapter has some nerve talking about "reality" while mentioning the Flood considering the sheer geological, biological, and archaeological evidence that this flood could never have happened as described in the Quran or the Bible.

Qur'an 69:12[edit]

To make it a lesson for you—so that retaining ears may retain it.

Qur'an 69:12 Notes[edit]

The lesson is that Allah is the polar opposite of a Merciful deity.

Qur'an 69:13[edit]

Then, when the Trumpet is sounded a single time.

Qur'an 69:13 Notes[edit]

Noah's story gets two verses and the book immediately jumps to the end of this world.

Qur'an 69:14[edit]

And the earth and the mountains are lifted up, and crushed, with a single crush.

Qur'an 69:14 Notes[edit]

This is supposed to instill terror in any readers who believe any part of this book.

Qur'an 69:15[edit]

On that Day, the Event will come to pass.

Qur'an 69:15 Notes[edit]

The Event? Other translations have similarly underwhelming names for this.

Qur'an 69:16[edit]

And the heaven will crack; so on that Day it will be frail.

Qur'an 69:16 Notes[edit]

This book talks about the heaven like it's a solid object even when this is demonstrably incorrect. What reality is this book talking about?

Qur'an 69:17[edit]

And the angels will be ranged around its borders, while eight will be carrying the Throne of your Lord above them that Day.

Qur'an 69:17 Notes[edit]

Meanwhile, humans are still waiting for evidence that angels are real.

Qur'an 69:18[edit]

On that Day you will be exposed, and no secret of yours will remain hidden.

Qur'an 69:18 Notes[edit]

Allah already knows everything. Is this meant to say that everyone else will know every secret about everyone else?

Qur'an 69:19[edit]

As for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say, “Here, take my book and read it.

Qur'an 69:19 Notes[edit]

This is just the classic right-is-good-and-left-is-bad superstition. Also, why books? Why not any better way of storing and transmitting information?

Qur'an 69:20[edit]

I knew I would be held accountable.”

Qur'an 69:20 Notes[edit]

The word "knew" implies that these people had more than just faith.

Qur'an 69:21[edit]

So he will be in pleasant living.

Qur'an 69:21 Notes[edit]

Carrot, meet stick. Stick, meet carrot.

Qur'an 69:22[edit]

In a lofty Garden.

Qur'an 69:22 Notes[edit]

There are lofty gardens on earth now. This reward seems oddly underwhelming for having pleased the all-powerful creator of the universe.

Qur'an 69:23[edit]

Its pickings are within reach.

Qur'an 69:23 Notes[edit]

Again, this reward is underwhelming to anybody who has ever been in a large garden.

Qur'an 69:24[edit]

“Eat and drink merrily for what you did in the days gone by.”

Qur'an 69:24 Notes[edit]

Also, this heaven would grow tiresome quickly, would it not? Living in luxury is definitely appealing, especially with the best food and drink available at any time, but what more would this afterlife offer to keep people from an eternity of boring monotony?

Qur'an 69:25[edit]

But as for him who is given his book in his left hand, he will say, “I wish I was never given my book.

Qur'an 69:25 Notes[edit]

Allah was the one who predestined these people to disbelieve and sin. Allah says as much repeatedly in the Quran. Allah created people just so they could suffer.

Qur'an 69:26[edit]

And never knew what my account was.

Qur'an 69:26 Notes[edit]

In terms of writing, this book is poorly written. These verses seem haphazardly paced.

Qur'an 69:27[edit]

If only it was the end.

Qur'an 69:27 Notes[edit]

Thankfully, there is so little evidence of such an afterlife of any sort that death is most likely the end.

Qur'an 69:28[edit]

My money cannot avail me.

Qur'an 69:28 Notes[edit]

Most rich people don't hoard their wealth because they expect that wealth to avail them after they die. Allah should know this.

Qur'an 69:29[edit]

My power has vanished from me.”

Qur'an 69:29 Notes[edit]

Most powerful people don't rise to power because they expect that power to avail them after they die. Allah should know this.

Qur'an 69:30[edit]

“Take him and shackle him.

Qur'an 69:30 Notes[edit]

Of course, Allah just wants excuses to torture people forever. He doesn't need excuses, not that any excuse could ever justify it, but Allah is that poorly written as a villain.

Qur'an 69:31[edit]

Then scorch him in the Blaze.

Qur'an 69:31 Notes[edit]

Some genuinely good people get this punishment because Allah sealed their hearts and minds. Allah specifically states that he prevents most people from believing because he doesn't want them to believe. Allah is scorching these disbelievers for no good reason.

Qur'an 69:32[edit]

Then in a chain which length is seventy cubits tie him up.

Qur'an 69:32 Notes[edit]

This is a weird detail to include given the inconsistent lack of detail in this book.

Qur'an 69:33[edit]

For he would not believe in God the Great.

Qur'an 69:33 Notes[edit]

He would not believe in God the Great who specifically prevented him from believing.

Qur'an 69:34[edit]

Nor would he advocate the feeding of the destitute.

Qur'an 69:34 Notes[edit]

Does Allah know how many people believe in him and fail to feed the destitute? Does Allah know how many disbelievers are eager to do that because they don't need the infinite carrot and stick to care about others?

Qur'an 69:35[edit]

So he has no friend here today.

Qur'an 69:35 Notes[edit]

These threats are just tiresome.

Qur'an 69:36[edit]

And no food except scum.

Qur'an 69:36 Notes[edit]

Tragically, some people read these verses and still see Allah as a good god. A lifetime of indoctrination can do that.

Qur'an 69:37[edit]

Which only the sinners eat.”

Qur'an 69:37 Notes[edit]

A lifetime of indoctrination can convince most people to see this tyrant as good.

Qur'an 69:38[edit]

Indeed, I swear by what you see.

Qur'an 69:38 Notes[edit]

Doubling down is not necessary. Trust me.

Qur'an 69:39[edit]

And by what you do not see.

Qur'an 69:39 Notes[edit]

Allah swears by any evidence of his existence and the truth of Islam. Then again, Allah is the reason why most of humanity fails to see that in the first place.

Qur'an 69:40[edit]

It is the speech of a noble messenger.

Qur'an 69:40 Notes[edit]

Would "a noble messenger" command the death penalty for those who leave his cult and call him out for being an awful person?

Qur'an 69:41[edit]

And it is not the speech of a poet—little do you believe.

Qur'an 69:41 Notes[edit]

Referring to this book as "poetry" would be a grave insult to all poets everywhere.

Qur'an 69:42[edit]

Nor is it the speech of a soothsayer—little do you take heed.

Qur'an 69:42 Notes[edit]

Soothsayers are supposed to know and say the truth, which this book is definitely not.

Qur'an 69:43[edit]

It is a revelation from the Lord of the Worlds.

Qur'an 69:43 Notes[edit]

This "Lord of the Worlds" knows nothing of the worlds which he created. Even if he did, however, his willingness to leave people in the dark and torture them for it, as his "revelation" states repeatedly, is enough of a reason to distrust everything he says.

Qur'an 69:44[edit]

Had he falsely attributed some statements to Us.

Qur'an 69:44 Notes[edit]

He definitely did that because this book contradicts itself way too often when talking about Allah.

Qur'an 69:45[edit]

We would have seized him by the right arm.

Qur'an 69:45 Notes[edit]

This most likely never happened to Muhammad. However, the previous verse raises the possibility that Muhammad could falsely attribute any statements to Allah. Why would this not be one such example?

Qur'an 69:46[edit]

Then slashed his lifeline.

Qur'an 69:46 Notes[edit]

Also, why are verses 44 to 46 not just a single verse?

Qur'an 69:47[edit]

And none of you could have restrained Us from him.

Qur'an 69:47 Notes[edit]

Allah clearly can't restrain himself according to this book.

Qur'an 69:48[edit]

Surely, it is a message for the righteous.

Qur'an 69:48 Notes[edit]

Would "the righteous" be okay with seeing people tortured forever over something as petty as disbelief in a simply unbelievable fairytale?

Qur'an 69:49[edit]

And We know that some of you will reject it.

Qur'an 69:49 Notes[edit]

This book is full of ridiculous claims and provides horrific threats instead of evidence. Of course people are rational to reject it.

Qur'an 69:50[edit]

And it is surely a source of grief for the unbelievers.

Qur'an 69:50 Notes[edit]

The real grief is that many believers do awful things because of this revelations. Slavery, religious wars, and family abuse are all reasons to reject a religion that leads people to perform and justify these atrocities.

Qur'an 69:51[edit]

Yet it is the absolute truth.

Qur'an 69:51 Notes[edit]

Then why does it constantly need to threaten those who disbelieve it when Allah could reveal proper evidence instead?

Qur'an 69:52[edit]

So glorify the name of your Lord, the Magnificent.

Qur'an 69:52 Notes[edit]

He is not magnificent. He claims constantly to be magnificent, but this book paints a completely different picture of his character.
