Guantanamo[edit]

Is it true that Colin was picked up by the FBI at Andy's request and is now being held in Guantanamo?--Bob's your unkle 14:26, 11 September 2007 (MDT)

No. That rumor is categorically untrue, and you can't prove it anyway. humanbe in 14:33, 11 September 2007 (MDT)
It's just that it fits the facts SO well. There's a conspiracy theory waiting to be born there somewhere. Remember that Trent was MIA at the start of RW2 as well. Was he brainwashed and returned?--Bob's your unkle 14:37, 11 September 2007 (MDT)
Trent is Andrew Schlafly's sockpuppet on RW. We all know that! humanbe in 14:48, 11 September 2007 (MDT)

I am amused by the date on which the above discussion occurred... humanUser talk:Human 16:28, 6 March 2008 (EST)

2.2.1[edit]

So all that work and all I get is a revision bump :P --  Nx/talk  08:55, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

Hey, you got named, didn't you? What do you want, a friggin' medal? I'll make you one if you want :) Seriously, I will... ħumanUser talk:Human 09:00, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
Also, since "2.0" not a hell of a lot has changed - yes, we've been through a server change, and at least two MW updates, but we are still RW2.something as I make it. ħumanUser talk:Human 09:05, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, software changes are one thing, but that's not what's important. Anyway, I don't do this because of medals, or barnstars or having my name praised here, so thank you, but I don't want a medal. (I've read RA's parthian, hence the change of tone) --  Nx/talk  09:55, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
Leave Ra out of it. You deserve a medal for how well you & Trent did the last upgrade. All the pre-testing on beta of your new versions of our "special" extensions, etc. Yeah, it's "behind the scenes" work, and the less you fuck it up, the less people notice (horrible deduction: if you want fame, destroy the site for a day, then rescue it - please don't). But re the RA thing, yeah, you do it because you want to, right? I dunno. I don't have no pretty barnstars or awards. Sometimes people refer to me, it runs about 50/50 positive/negative. I don't care about that. If someone laughs at my joke, I get high. If they don't, I try to make a better joke. That's all I have to offer, really. You, on the other hand, have invested hardcore hours (as did Trent) on the background, the software. Seriously, I do think you deserve a pretty barnstar. A unique one. Give me a few days? PS, I think I left this window open with the goal of doing such, but I uploaded some crap user.js thing from Ed Poor's aSockdrawer account and it borked and closed my open tabs. SRSLY you deserve a bahnstah. I will you make. And then you will be stuck with it. :) ħumanUser talk:Human 08:49, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
Yes, Yeh! Barnstar for NX!!--Bobbing up 15:44, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

TOC[edit]

That contents box is a masterpiece of minimalism. Totnesmartin 11:59, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

That is sweet indeed. I think it were Pi what nested our headers properly for that. I never even noticed... ħumanUser talk:Human 23:34, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
Dang, I mucked them up by using text in a new header... ħumanUser talk:Human 00:37, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

Birthday[edit]

What are we all doing? is there a page for posting up pictures of cakes? Totnesmartin 21:43, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

Later tonight I figure I'll push the ratty furniture out of the way at my talk page to make room for balloons and goat pilaf and much drunken celebratoriations. Maybe around midnight my time. Maybe sooner. A Splendid Time is Guaranteed for All. Feel free to bring any and all refreshments. I think there's even a swimming pool or piano around here somewhere, if someone can find it. ħumanUser talk:Human 23:38, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

1.0[edit]

Trent posted this diff at WP as the first manifestation of the idea that became RW, and it's in March. ħumanUser talk:Human 00:15, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

3.0[edit]

While I may have gone a bit overboard, I do think the RWF and the server move are separate sub-revs. But let's worry about that after the move and the election are in the past so we see how they pan out. ħumanUser talk:Human 16:06, 10 November 2010 (UTC)

Perhaps wait and combine the move and MW upgrade into a 3.1.... just thinking out loud... ħumanUser talk:Human 16:07, 10 November 2010 (UTC)
Well, the way I'm thinking is: RWF + initial board was 3.0 beta 1 (2.9.1), move+upgrade will be 3.0 beta 2 (2.9.2), and finally when the new board is elected we'll have 3.0. Am I taking this too seriously? -- Nx / talk 16:11, 10 November 2010 (UTC)

From RWW[edit]

User:sterile wrote this on RWW and i think it's worth preserving:

First wave: (by invitation only) largely precipitated by the Guardian article of CP, the creation on RW1; RationalWiki was a pain in the ass to log into focused on CP, when it was a page of pages (there is no cabal), ending in the Night of the Blunt Knives; silliniess at CP, such as the doughnut affair, Icewedge edits to CP and Richard at CP; it sounds all glorious, but it really didn't last that long.

Second wave: (the initial public RW) Creepy E.Wig conversations and the first real trolling by HeartOfGold; the LATimes article; the countdown to the 2008 election; PalMD and Caius around but eventually faded away to their own blogs, and the WIGOs and Article of the Weak stuff; forums were a separate page with the separate cabal and cabal within cabal forums; side-by-sides were common (Expelled: Leader's Guide); CP was still the real focus (click-bots, Lenski affair, lots of focus on TK; unearthing their forums and e-mails), although there were a lot of general skepticism articles, honest; lots of user templates; the Constitutional Convention (that went nowhere); the Great Pissing Contents (which was a huge deal at the time); probably the height of the era of Human; William Demski's legal threat; RationalBlogs; the vandal bin (?) it probably ends with the Colbert influx; really the most fun the wiki ever was (no offense), nobody really knew what they were doing (but that was the fun of it)

Third wave: the formalization and branding stuff; moving from .com to .org (right?) the forums went mothballed in favor of the Saloon Bar (maybe earlier); the new logo; more looking past CP (although there was a lot of post-CP initially, honest; it was Trent's intent); focus on other projects (ASK, WikiSynergy); eventually Facebook page comes on-line and Marcus becomes a problem in the eyes of lots; current form of Main is pretty much set; height of 'crats and sysops (don't remember when that started) and the coup; the great blackout for a month; the formation of the foundation; Loya Jira; Susan dies, and TK over at CP dies; definite ending in May 2011 because you all couldn't figure out how to 'crat me (according to many), although I still think the inability to figure out what to do with Marcus (or diffrences thereby) is the real reason May happened. Fourth wave: (post-uber HCM) I suppose the editors are a big part of this, but it's also the mods and the reshuffling of "power" (whatever that means), which I still think led to the alienation of lots, ergo oldtimers leave like Elves going into the west; bizarro trolls (and troll-like-ness); promise of podcasting and other forms of social media.

There are definitely things in the wrong place, but that's what I remember of it. Actually, it is event driven except perhaps between the second and third waves (Blunt Knives & May "throw out the 'crats"-fest). Sterile 05:33, 25 March 2012 (UTC)
