2025 RationalWiki 'Oregon Plan' Fundraiser

There is no RationalWiki without you. We are a small non-profit with no staff—we are hundreds of volunteers who document pseudoscience and crankery around the world every day. We will never allow ads because we must remain independent. We cannot rely on big donors with corresponding big agendas. We are not the largest website around, but we believe we play an important role in defending truth and objectivity.

Fighting pseudoscience isn't free.

Hmm, why do we have this? An article on "haunted" buildings in general, well maybe, but articles on each one? Not so much. SophieWilderModerator 18:10, 22 April 2014 (UTC)

Granted it has nothing to do with MRA or CP but being fairly well known for claiming a hole in the basement goes to Hell makes it rather amusing, don't you think? Leuders (talk) 18:14, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
Oh yes, I don't want it deleted, but there ought to be a haunted house article to cover stuff like this, Amityville and so on. SophieWilderModerator 18:30, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
In fact, it's rather odd that hundreds of millions of people believe in ghosts but all we have on the subject is the one little article. SophieWilderModerator 18:34, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
Could be because the big general articles are harder to write. Or maybe because there's only so much you can say about ghosts or haunted houses in general that hasn't been said before. But once you get to dissect specific bullshit (like Bobby Mackey's Music World) or specific bullshitters (like Ed and Lorraine Warren) then you've got something that IMO is a bit more unique. Ok then. SophieWilderModerator 19:05, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
