Why does this exist?[edit]

There's nothing here but a bunch of transcripts with an intro taped on. Is this really necessary, at all? BT383 (talk) 13:53, 13 March 2017 (UTC)

It seems fine. The summary is informative enough. Reverend Black Percy (talk) 15:35, 13 March 2017 (UTC)

Just what's does the "Interest on Twitter" section mean?[edit]

Did they host the stream? And what is Lioncube? Honestly, trying to search It up on Google, I found this https://cybergnostic.fandom.com/wiki/LIONCUBE which was quite distressing to read personally (and then even surf the fandom because I wanted to know something about It, I would like to know what do y'all think of it), and is It related somehow? And what Is XIVMK OS?

(And before searching Lioncube, I did try ask ChatGPT for some info and he provided me a dialogflow link of a CAIMEO-Lioncube chat, I didn't write anything though.) AnAccount123 (talk) 17:36, 11 October 2024 (UTC)

I would recommend double or even triple checking anything ChatGPT spits out at you. Carthage (talk) 17:41, 11 October 2024 (UTC)
My impression based on The Google is that this is a really small conspiracy theory / urban legend and/or alternate reality gameWikipedia trope that seems to have half died out in the 2020s. Any remaining pages on the web have this vague Time Cube quality of not even wrong bizarre conspiracy musings. It seems to be linked to a bunch of urban legends / conspiracy theories that came out about "the deep web" around the time TORWikipedia was launched in the early 2010s. Most have these conspiracies have this "computer n00b + watched too many apocalyptic sci-fi movie" quality to it; a lot of them have this "lolwut" technobabble that doesn't make much sense to anyone who knows a wee bit about computers. Even if it was meant to be a fictional game, the quality is just not that good. BobJohnson (talk) 18:06, 11 October 2024 (UTC)
Are you talking about the Lioncube thing? In the Cybergnostic forum community? It did give me the impression of being and ARG too, especially because in "recently edited" Pages It did mix up some bible, along with stuff that sound like conspiracies or a quite empty Page. And It has "Ascension" too, and that aspect can be found in ARGs. Or are you talking about the CAIMEO thing as a whole? And anyway, you don't think there's a connection between Lioncube in the Forum and the Lioncube in the article?AnAccount123 (talk) 21:03, 11 October 2024 (UTC)
It's impossible to tell, honestly. Anything that I've seen (I've Googled a few other pages like here) has these weird inconsistencies. For instance, the link you posted has some odd dates (1977), non-sequitur technical tidbits like disk formats and Internet traffic statistics, technobabble like "Paradigm Recalescense" (look the definitions of these words up -- this is completely random shit that makes no sense whatsoever), and generally not even a threadbare backstory or development on exactly what things like Lioncube and CAVNET and PHr33X and all the other acronyms. It vaguely sounds like a doomsday sci-fi type plot... kind of... but without any sort of backstory / exposition, it's just there. Yes, a lot of the links for CAIMEO mention LionCube and a whole lot of other acronymy things. But there is no narrative. I don't know what they are. I doubt the authors do either.
The other thing with this is that so far I'm finding that a huge amount of the links that refer to this are dead. I am open (though skeptical) to the possibility that this was once might have been a comprehensible ARG at one point, but bitrot has eaten the game away. More likely, though, I tend to think that this Reddit, which identifies its origins as a 4chan creepypasta,Wikipedia is probably closer to the mark. Meaning, it's more likely that this is just rando bullshit sprung up by anons for the "/b/tards". BobJohnson (talk) 21:39, 11 October 2024 (UTC)
Makes sense, in fact, even the archived 4chan page states something like "only fool would take anything from here as fact". I was skeptical about CAIMEO being a thing, more of my "distressfulness" came upon ending up in that Lioncube page, websites cryptic and chaotic like that (with Rabbit holes) make me uneasy. Did you end up in some dialogflow CAIMEO/Lionsgate too? Like with me using ChatGPT initially?AnAccount123 (talk) 22:13, 11 October 2024 (UTC)
I did find a Diagflow chatbot client (Diagflow is a Google tool that helps people make chatbots). No matter what question you ask (even flippant stuff like like "what is your favorite flavor of ice cream?") it spit back some sort of strange, often conspiracy oriented quote. Most of these are posted verbatim in several places when you Google the quote, as if the stuff might have been a copypasta at one point. Not exactly a well designed chat bot. I hope the person who put this together didn't spend much time on it.
What is notable about this "chat bot" is the title "LionCube Deep Mariana's Web A.I.". The "Mariana's Web" definitely ties this to the "deep web" conspiracy theories floating on 4chan.
In 2015, Engadget reported on this "deep web" phenomenon. The article linked to this infographic. A "CAIMEO (AI superintelligence)" is described as part of "Level 4" that requires a "closed shell system" to access (another term that doesn't make sense to anyone who has actually done the Unix / Linux thing). (This is sort of inferred to in the current RW article on CAIMEO).
In some ways, this infographic is a hoot. Alongside CAIMEO is various "CP" (child pornography), Josef MengeleWikipedia "Successes" and "assassination networks". Amusingly, "Multi-Billion Dollar Deals" are just above this level, meaning that according to this infographic, everyone's 401K is, web-wise, just slightly above pedo shit and Hitler. Spell checker and grammar for this infographic... is optional (it's mathematics; what the fuck is a "derivatal"; and I think "nephilisim" means the Biblical Nephilim,Wikipedia but I'm not sure). "Faggot" insults, of course, are mandatory. Rationalwiki even has a modest article on another part of this infographic ("Gadolinium Gallium Garnet").
I mean, none of this matters because it's a shitpost, but it's hopefully easy to see why not to take it seriously. BobJohnson (talk) 02:23, 12 October 2024 (UTC)
Yep, that's the same exact dialogflow I got. And yeah, I also found Mariana's Web on that strange website I linked (in recently edited pages), which still attracts my silly "curiousity", but I think it's better to post it and ask for explanations, on r/ARG at this point. Just one final question, in the Lioncube image you see, in the Page of my link, do you recognise the thing on the left side? I do recognise Cicada above, but that left side symbol Is familiar. Anyway, Thanks you for your time and patience, I really appreciate it.AnAccount123 (talk) 10:02, 12 October 2024 (UTC)
Google image search only brought up this link. I assume it's fan "Photoshopped" type art of some sort. Even in fiction, it's pretty odd for a so-called "advanced AI" in the 2010s to use what looks like a vintage tube TV, though. The font (which looks like one of the Westminster / Data 70Wikipedia type fonts) also is pretty old fashioned; this family was designed for things like check OCRs, but found a life as a font for the titles 1970s-1990s science fiction shows, further dating the meme. The bottom left label is unnaturally "glowing" too IMHO. BobJohnson (talk) 13:42, 12 October 2024 (UTC)
Actually I was talking about that cube logo in my very first comment, the link for the Cybergnostic forum. About that other image, yeah It got me wondering too, but now, with that last link you sent in your last response, I feel like I need to know what that CAIMEO article is claiming, and if that portoguese facebook Page really knows how to access CAIMEO or has more screenshot😭 (or whatever, I read the contenti of that link quite Quickly)AnAccount123 (talk) 14:17, 12 October 2024 (UTC)
Yeah, I don't know about that cube thingy in your first link other than it's something trivial to slap together with 3D software if you had the clip art they used. If I knew Asian languages better I could have perhaps told you what that particular symbol that was, but I don't, and nothing came up in some quick searches.
