Polyamory[edit]

How is her support for polyamory "controversial"? If it's because it runs counter to the dominant cultural strain of monogamy, that's not really pseudoscientific or a crank position. Homosexuality and being transgender also buck the dominant trends. Carthage (talk) 02:39, 4 January 2024 (UTC)

Hi, article is in draft. Feel free to make corrections. I think it is controversial in terms of public surveys showing large disagreement with it and it is morally objectionable to the majority in most if not all countries. I believe this disagreement is based on some facts. For example, the more sexual partners you have the higher the risk of STIs. I searched online message boards for polyamorists and found sexually transmitted infections were mentioned a lot. Box (talk) 04:41, 4 January 2024 (UTC)
I don't think we should view it judgementally per se (I mean, it depends), but it could remain mentioned because it would seem to mesh into her world view, if she's into natalism and all that then this ties into how she wants the world to be. Also I just realized who this lady is like five minutes ago... she's a character, I'll say that much. Chillpilled (talk) 05:00, 4 January 2024 (UTC) Oh wait, I mixed her up with this lady, who actually was also at the natalist conference incidentally. Chillpilled (talk) 06:52, 4 January 2024 (UTC)
The argument from popularity is a logical fallacy, and as for STIs that's arguably usage of the naturalistic fallacy. You could also point to issues of consent in relationships; if people consent to being in a polyamorous relationship, what business is it of yours who one dates? Also not all relationships are sexual in nature. Carthage (talk) 06:10, 4 January 2024 (UTC)
I made a minor correction to article to include romantic. I also removed "controversial" from views section. I also thank Johns for his edits and rewrite. There's a poly article here and I may add a criticism section some time or debate this on the talk page there. I will add a bit more and then hopefully the page can be moved to mainspace.
