- Grigori Rasputin was the real person behind throne in Tsarist Russia. Darth Maul 13:38, 11 December 2008 (EST)
- So what? i'm not sure we need an article on him--at least, not this one...PFoster 14:08, 11 December 2008 (EST)
- Shades of Boney M in there somewhere I feel.--Bobbing up 14:10, 11 December 2008 (EST)
- Bulked out it might make a good "Fun" article. Fortinbrass 14:16, 11 December 2008 (EST)
- Any more on this? He was a mystic, mentalist and a purveyor of woo, not to mention the legends around him that defy a lot of explantion. As an individual I think he fits the mission quite well, although the article could do with some TLC. ArmondikoVmoral 09:07, 23 January 2009 (EST)

Inaccurate death[edit]
I wouldn't want to change it in case the Ames joke is more important, but Rasputin was actually killed with a single shot to the head by a British intelligence officer, who co-operated with the dissident Russian nobles. Britain believed that Rasputin was going to use his influence to withdraw Russia from the First World War, and that he needed to be removed in order to prevent this happening. The details about the difficulty in killing him were invented later on by Prince Felix Yusupov (the leader of the nobles' conspiracy) in exile in order to exaggerate Rasputin's malevolent influence and his own good deed in killing him. - That's one theory based on recent intelligence. It's worth adding anyway. The myth of the guy's death is so impressive it needs looked at in the article. ArmondikoVmoral 09:49, 29 January 2009 (EST)
- I'm no expert on this, but just looked through what WP says about it. It looks like the autopsy shows he had been beaten & stabbed as well as shot, but no traces of poison. So I guess some of the details of his murder could be true, but no doubt the tale grew in the telling. WeaseloidMethinks it is a Weasel 09:56, 29 January 2009 (EST)
Well, he was stabbed in the gut by a prostitute long before his official death, so the "stabbing" part is technically correct, albeit not part of the official assassination attempt. — Unsigned, by: 24.61.154.51 / talk / contribs
