Rolled back[edit]

I'd like to know why Christopher has rolled back ALL the edits I made today to the Helminthic Therapy page. Before my edits, the page was out of date and misleading to anyone who read its contents. I brought it up to date by adding comments from, and links to, bona fide science. So why roll this back to an inferior version? — Unsigned, by: Helminthophile / talk / contribs

On talk pages, please sign your comments using four tildes (~~~~) or by clicking on the sign button: SigButt.png on the toolbar above the edit panel. You can also indent successive talk page comments using one more colon (:) for each line. Thank you. Reverend Black Percy (talk) 19:17, 20 May 2017 (UTC)
Sorry about my falling foul of your protocol. I'm new to all of this! I now understand that I have to sign my comments here with 4 tildes, but I'm not sure where to put the colons to indent successive paragraphs. Helminthophile (talk) 19:29, 20 May 2017 (UTC)
Insert one ":" at the beginning of a paragraph to indent one tab, two colons for two tabs, etc. Bongolian (talk) 19:43, 20 May 2017 (UTC)
Thanks, Bongolian! Now, how do I get the attention of Christopher? He rolled back my edits to this page 4 minutes after I saved them, so he couldn't actually have read them all! What's going on here? Helminthophile (talk) 20:56, 20 May 2017 (UTC)
Oh, pish posh — I have it on good authority that Christopher reads at a third-grade level already. Mind you, that's pretty damn amazing for a goat! Reverend Black Percy (talk) 20:58, 20 May 2017 (UTC)

And would a mention of the 'catching malaria to cure syphilis' be appropriate - and would it still be possible to 'fever the disease out'? 31.49.137.244 (talk) 21:02, 20 May 2017 (UTC)

I’m an academic infectious diseases specialist and faculty educator, and this entire entry is rife with woo, unsupported claims, and references to poorly-designed studies published in low impact factor journals. I first thought it was another satirical, scathing indictment of an aspect of pseudoscience until I realized it’s meant to be on the level. I suggest moving it to the woo section and editing its tone and approach. And by the way, polycythemia is a condition that indicates an underlying problem-whether it be primary with polycythemia Vera or secondary due to hypoxic states (such as COPD or sleep apnea). Hookworms only resolve the increased blood cell counts by feasting on the intestinal blood supply, tantamount to blood letting. It doesn’t address the underlying cause, which is why I don’t think this topic is appropriate for the level of knowledge or insight of the OP. That paragraph in particular had me chuckling in disbelief. What a mess. Srkbear (talk) 05:44, 31 January 2024 (UTC)
