The LessWrong/EA stuff should go. It's evident Bezos isn't actually affiliated with those groups, as the most @Polydamas could find was him praising some guy's poscast once. The section would be completely incomprhensible to anyone who doesn't have a lot of niche background knowlege. Christopher (talk) 14:12, 25 May 2025 (UTC)

I found a way to trim it after finding an interview where Patel agrees that he is a rationalist, but I think the space advocacy and attempted recruitment by TESCREAL types are more missional than "extra! extra! billionaire retailer has crappy labour politics." I am not sure if Bezos has said anything about LessWrong since 2022 and maybe he backed away after FTX collapsed but you can generally assume that anything you think you know about a billionaire is what their publicity team wants you to think you know. So one public acknowledgement of a fringe Internet movement may be the tip of the iceberg.Polydamas (talk) 22:36, 25 May 2025 (UTC)
The article by Stross is important because he is a science fiction writer and former software developer who has known many TESCREAL personalities and Neoreactionaries in person and online for 30 years. So if he thinks a tech CEO is trying to bring old sci fi novels to life, listen. A RW page on space advocacy might be useful since it intersects with Libertarianism and pseudoscience, and links figures with RW pages like Musk and Bezos.Polydamas (talk) 22:53, 25 May 2025 (UTC)
Would Bezos' reported investment into Altos Labs not qualify him as having a transhumanist interest?

Interesting! I am not an expert on either Patel or Bezos. Halting or reversing aging is definitely a transhuman project which is fashionable with execs and investors in Silicon Valley (we have pages for Immortality and Aubrey de Grey). I don't want to do extensive research and create a page for every rationalist with a blog or a podcast, Ozy's let me mention the longtermist kind of animal welfare, and Aella's let me organize my concerns about the rationalist movement. So I can't always move from "this person raises red flags" to giving them a simple label and citing chapter and verse.Polydamas (talk) 15:46, 26 May 2025 (UTC)
