- IMO: The talking points are very different, and the responses must be very different. For example, unlike science, media isn't a gradual accumulation of facts that hope to slowly approach the real truth -- it's a 24/7 real-time reporting effort. That's why the "media was wrong before" claim is stronger than the scientific one -- because media has less ability to correct itself, and because trust in media is so much lower than in science.
