Come on guys, let's be serious here, Philosophy is not nonsense, it's the study of "salvation" (in fact, we are talking of "wisdom") without the need to believe in God. In fact, the introduction of the RationalWiki entry "RationalWiki Atheism FAQ for the Newly Deconverted" is mainly a phiolosiphical article! I think modern rationalism, and it's acceptance by a relatively high number of individuals, owes a lot to philosophers.— Unsigned, by: Roberto.sallier / talk / contribs
- Philosophy', although considered by some as a purely mental exercise bordering on nonsense, is the study of "salvation" (in fact, we are talking of "wisdom") without the need to believe in God. It is interesting to notice that the introduction of the RationalWiki entry "RationalWiki Atheism FAQ for the Newly Deconverted" is mainly a philosiphical article. I think modern rationalism, and it's acceptance by a relatively high number of individuals, owes a lot to philosophers. --Roberto.sallier (talk) 15:33, 9 May 2010 (UTC)

- I think it's the ancient Greek idea that philosophy was a form of personal development - the Socratic quotes "know thyself2 and 2the unexamined life is not worth living" spring to mind. this, however, completely disregards the later idea of philosophy as a means of explaining the universe and its doings. - It's just that when I look up "salvation" I don't find a meaning which equates it with "wisdom".--BobSpring is sprung! 17:46, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
- Me neither. Enlightenment would be closer. Totnesmartin (talk) 18:03, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
