Talk:FAQ for the Newly Deconverted
Summary[edit]
You are a well developed collection of genetic copying errors... living on a forgotten rock (if i may), now "enjoy" your life (only don't forget basic "decency", which we can't define but you know, it's innate).
I WOULD RATHER die than live this miserably Kingdamian1 (talk) 07:45, 27 May 2017 (UTC)
- That's your problem, I'd rather die than be a creationist. Christopher (talk) 08:32, 27 May 2017 (UTC)
- Oh! But you are a creationist! You do believe that at some point time, space and matter began to exist or was, dare I say it, created... You just do not believe that intelligence was involved! You believe it started by natural processes (created itself)... which is just as big of a leap of faith, only on the other, dark side! --Kingdamian1 (talk) 15:32, 27 May 2017 (UTC)
- I mean creationism in the same way dictionaries mean, "The belief that the universe and living organisms originate from specific acts of divine creation, as in the biblical account, rather than by natural processes such as evolution." Christopher (talk) 15:44, 27 May 2017 (UTC)

- Evolution means... "change of heritable traits in a population (of living organisms) over time"... How does this process exactly give rise to either universe or life?--Kingdamian1 (talk) 15:46, 27 May 2017 (UTC)
- It doesn't. But it doesn't try to either. You are conflating evolution with (respectively) a subset of cosmology and with abiogenesis.Daev (talk) 16:02, 27 May 2017 (UTC)

Christopher said... that life and universe began by natural processes such as evolution... which leaves one wondering!--Kingdamian1 (talk) 16:19, 27 May 2017 (UTC)
- I directly quoted the dictionary definition of creationism in response to your assertion that I was a creationist. It doesn't say the universe began through evolution, it says that it began through natural processes then gives an example of a natural process (in this case evolution). Christopher (talk) 16:23, 27 May 2017 (UTC)
- The hypothesis of life beginning through random chemical interaction over couple of billion years (abiogenesis) is as much of a leap of faith... only on the other side!Kingdamian1 (talk) 16:27, 27 May 2017 (UTC)
- It is not! BUT... that does not stop people from leaning towards random chance than design!Kingdamian1 (talk) 16:39, 27 May 2017 (UTC)
- Was going to add this below my above (in continuation of that sentence), but left some time to avoid edit conflicts > '...bounds of experimental science' and thus there is no direct evidence that the hypothesis is anything more than a possible explanation.
- RE: Your previous > So? To quote one of the recent changes quotes > "Truth is not a popularity contest." Also people believe things foar all sorts of reasons.Daev (talk) 16:50, 27 May 2017 (UTC)

- So, you do not believe that there is objective truth?Kingdamian1 (talk) 20:54, 27 May 2017 (UTC)
Why is this fully protected?[edit]

New section: Do I actually have to be nice to people?[edit]
Nope, but there are reasons not to be an asshole at all times. For example, if you tell you boss or that complaining customer at work "you're fucking annoying" you will probably be fired, and if you say the same thing to a cop pulling you over for a traffic infraction, they are likely to give you citation instead of a warning. However, there's probably little consequences to yelling the same thing at those annoying high school punks who litter in your corner lot waiting for the school bus, or the obnoxious redneck with multiple Republican stickers on his truck who cuts you off on the highway. There's no reason to be nice to people like that if you prefer to be an asshole to them, but you can be nice to them if that makes you happy. For atheists, there is no karma or magical sky daddy who is going to punish you for expressing your feelings towards someone. However, throwing water balloons at the students, or pulling a gun on the redneck, will probably get you arrested, so unless you like the idea of going to jail, you probably shouldn't do anything illegal.

Something similar for the recently de-radicalised?[edit]
Hello all, first time writing on this wiki, but I was wondering if there was something similar for ex-nazis or ex-white supremacists?
I have a lifelong friend whom recently I've managed to change some opinions of - both of us used to be involved in some pretty nasty ideas but I managed to pull myself out and I'm looking to do the same for them but I have no idea where to begin

- So, I know of resources, but I don't know the names of them. I think the Southern Poverty Law Center links to a few sites, but I'm not sure. ☭Comrade GC☭Ministry of Praise 03:07, 20 November 2020 (UTC)

Even the ones you've never heard of. Especially the ones you've never heard of.[edit]
Should this be "Especially the ones you have heard of."? I mean, IF there is a god, its most certainly not any of the ones that we've conjured up. 203.109.153.141 (talk) 22:28, 14 December 2020 (UTC)

Jesus Fucking Christ, what's wrong with these vandals? What the fuck? So much for being moral and loving, I guess. TheOneAndOnlyCirrusMan (talk) 18:57, 29 August 2024 (UTC)
