Talk:Rhodesia
Rhodesian marriage case[edit]
I did a undergraduate course on International Law 'a while back' and there was reference to a case as to whether a marriage that took place in unrecognised Rhodesia was valid in the UK: if this can be identified would it merit a mention here? Anna Livia (talk) 12:47, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
Rothschild[edit]
The London-branch Rothschilds had a financial stake in Rhodesia. I wonder how important they were to it. Given how the Rothschilds factor into right-wing conspiracy theory, it's kind of a jarring juxtaposition to admiration for Rhodesia among, from what I can tell, is the same crowd.
I have to admit I don't know enough about Rhodesia to say much about it. But sources that mention them with regards to Rhodesia are "Crown and Charter: The Early Years of the British South Africa Company" (book), "Rhodes and the City of London: Another View of Imperialism" (journal article), and "From the Barrel of a Gun: The United States and the War Against Zimbabwe, 1965-1980" (book).
The family has declined in relevance severely, but back then (late 1800s, very early 1900s) they really were a much bigger deal. Chillpilled (talk) 00:33, 21 July 2023 (UTC)
