Why[edit]
Why redirect? There's no reason this snarticle won't grow into a huge pile of informative words. human 18:41, 15 November 2007 (EST)
- I think it needs a rewrite. Elassint Throw things at me 18:45, 15 November 2007 (EST)
- Well, let's at least start with what we had, eh? And I'm sure more will come along. human 20:14, 15 November 2007 (EST)
You know, its interesting how this first started out as vandalism. Elassint Throw things at me 23:20, 16 November 2007 (EST)
- Yup, that's one of our approaches to wandals - take the crap they start and make an RW thing out of it. Some things move faster than others. Sweden jokes and facts will probably come slowly. Perhaps our resident Dane will find it eventually and snark it out. human 00:07, 17 November 2007 (EST)
Not a good article[edit]
I mean, no word on IKEA. Editor at CP 02:55, 17 November 2007 (EST)
- Ooh ooh, I forgot teh IKEAz! I know virtually nuthin about them, though. Can you add a bit? human 13:20, 17 November 2007 (EST)
- The IKEA part in the article is perfect, and makes the article complete.
- Oh wait, wasn't there a swedish cook in Muppet Show? (or is he covered by the funny language bit?)
- And while people may argue about the civilized Country as opposed to the Vikings, it's pretty clear that they still produce some fearsome Vikings and export them to NHL. Editor at CP 15:01, 17 November 2007 (EST)
ABBA[edit]
I'm not going to get into an edit war but ABBA were, at one point, Sweden's second biggest money earner and even if they weren't Dancing Queen is the bestest ever, so there. So ABBA are great, not overrated. Silver Sloth 09:50, 26 August 2008 (EDT)
Polishing a bit.[edit]
Not sure what to do about "Fan du". I would interpret it more as "Hey, man" or "Wow!" - "Fan ta dig" however, is a curse comparable to "Fuck you". I'll go ahead and remove the double plural on "kronors" anyway. 217.211.88.20 (talk) 10:43, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
Unfair[edit]
Lutfisk (sic) is exclusively norwegian, it is either unknown or abhorred in Sweden and Denmark. — Unsigned, by: Millan / talk / contribs
- Lutfisk is still a traditional Christmas Day course in large parts of Sweden, and is still eaten by a minority of people on unspecial times as well. Almost everyone knows what it is. — Unsigned, by: 90.225.112.190 / talk / contribs 19:02, 21 October 2011 (UTC)
Assange[edit]
Is it really exclusive to Sweden that it's illegal to force someone to have sex without a condom when they have only consented to sex with a condom? Withdrawal of consent would also be applicable, which is definitely not exclusive to Sweden.— Unsigned, by: Malarkey / talk / contribs
The whole section about Assange is crap: 1. Sex crime law doesn't mention condoms specifically. 2. The law doesn't specify the size of fines; this always up to the courts. 3. All sex crimes in Sweden have prison as a potential outcome. 4. Assange is suspected of having had sex with someone who was sleeping. If convicted, he would be sentenced to prison for rape for 2-10 years, not fined SEK 5000. Db7213 (talk) 23:29, 12 February 2014 (UTC)
War[edit]
Since 2010, Swedish forces in Afghanistan engage the enemy without first being fired upon, which international law only allows during war, hence it is wrong to say that "Sweden has had continuous peace since 1814". Db7213 (talk) 23:29, 12 February 2014 (UTC)
This article is far too soft on Sweden[edit]
I'm seeing a replication of a popular trend here wherein so-called liberals praise Sweden for its allegedly egalitarian government system and its commitment to human rights, but fails to look past the face that the country presents to the public and understand that here, as in much of the rest of the world, neoliberalism (nicely called "economic freedom" by the unbiased editors of this article) serves to create a lot more social inequality (including, yes, gender inequality - old Stieg wasn't as insane as you people think) than most people want to believe exists. Perhaps Sweden's history as a white European nation has not been as dark as, say, England or France, if only because the Swedes had the good sense to keep their issues to themselves rather than forcing them on other societies which were usually better-run and more egalitarian, at least after the 16th century. Nonetheless, Swedish society has very real problems that qualify its largely unquestioned status as "foremost nation in the world for egalitarianism" etc.
My suggestion is to at least include some other opinions about contemporary Swedish society to counterbalance the cheerleading that comprises the majority of this article. Case in point: Sweden's legalisation of same-sex marriage gets an emphatic "woo-hoo" even though legalising same-sex marriage in 2009 (after a number of other countries, including third-world Nepal and right-wing Israel had legalised it) is hardly some spectacular achievement for a nation that seems to pride itself in being #1 in the world on social justice issues. 70.193.54.174 (talk) 21:54, 20 September 2015 (UTC)

Muslim Majority[edit]
Muslims everywhere |
---|
Lars Hedegaard, a respected journalist, predicted Sweden will be majority Muslim by 2049. All the numbers support this. For example, Swedish fertility is 1.9 and falling, where as Muslim fertility is 2.5. Plus, it is estimated 127000 immigrants will enter Sweden each year, most from Syria. — Unsigned, by: 174.61.214.56 / talk / contribs
Mention blondes[edit]Why no mention of Sweden's high concentration of blondes? It's something people think of when they think of Sweden. (User:Steelman)
Why is my question under Muslim majority? This has nothing to do with what I asked. Now, my question is answered. There is no mention of blondes because there won't be any left in the future./sarcasm Steelman |
Russia (which is awkwardly draped on top of the same).[edit]
Does this mean Russia is "draped" on Sweden? I really don't understand what this phrase means.--Кřěĵ (ṫåɬк) 03:14, 13 June 2016 (UTC)
- Yeah, I removed that now... It made no sense to me, nor was it funny. It had stood there since ages. It's gone now, anyways. Thanks for pointing it out. Reverend Black Percy (talk) 03:35, 13 June 2016 (UTC)
Proof of conspiracy[edit]
Allright, so — who the hell failed to place the United States of America at #1 in this comprehensive ranking?! And for that matter, what is godless heathen eurabia communist wiccan Sweden doing at the very top of this thing?! They even made an infographic confirming the presence of liberal deceit! I want answers, preferably from nobs, and I want them now. Reverend Black Percy (talk) 14:57, 19 December 2016 (UTC)
