Talk:Very special episode

This is a great example of something that should be kept in your user space. And Godot, I do think I've seen you create and complete things in your user space, then move them to mainspace once they were in good shape. Why release this now? --User:Brxbrx/sig 17:39, 25 August 2011 (UTC)

That is a great example of something that shouldn't be said. Fuck off Brx. Pippa (talk) 17:46, 25 August 2011 (UTC)
Don't pee in your panties, articles are there to get expanded. Which I will do later to this one. --ʤɱ socialist 17:48, 25 August 2011 (UTC)
I think I have a pretty good track record that i *hate* stubs, and do not leave things unfinished. why put it in user space? Cause it's a pain in the ass when I'll have it done shortly. Why do i save it early? Cause I've lost several major edits before, simply because I'm at a real job, and have to run and accidently close a window, or hit the wrong button. If you ever see something unfinished for more than a few hours, feel free to comment. but you jumped on this less than an hour after i said "will finish shortly". in other wise, bite me. :-) (the smily shows i am saying that with love, not hate.)--Pink mowse.pngEn attendant Godot 17:58, 25 August 2011 (UTC)
By the way, I just looked at your contributions and the vast vast vast majority of what you do is "talk", and your edits to real articles amount to less than 100 in the last month... so really, you don't have a lot of room to be bitching about articles others write, since you don't do lots of editing yourself. I don't give a shit that what you do is talk - this isn't a 90-10 rule or something, but i do give a shit that you bother bitching at me when you either choose to deliberately ignore how much I do, or you just can't be bothered. I take back my smily face. BITE ME.Pink mowse.pngEn attendant Godot 18:51, 25 August 2011 (UTC)

You're a mod. You're supposed to keep discussions cool, not add more fuel to the fire. -- Nx / talk 19:42, 25 August 2011 (UTC)
This is a wiki. Everything is a perpetual "work in progress". Get the fuck over it.The unbusinesslikeman of business 21:02, 25 August 2011 (UTC)

Mission?[edit]

Slapped a mission tag on this. Very Special Episode? What the fuck? Aceof SpadesSilverbrain.png 21:31, 25 August 2011 (UTC)

It was used as a tool to fuel moral panics but also to mention actual issues. As such a tool, I think it's relevant. --ʤɱ constructivist 21:33, 25 August 2011 (UTC)
I am really not getting that from reading it and it looks very messy as an article. I can't really fix it because I don't understand what the fuck it is supposed to be about. Aceof SpadesSilverbrain.png 21:43, 25 August 2011 (UTC)
Wow, it seems very mission to me (course, i wrote it...). This is the core of the media playing off the whole "let's be scared of the big bad world", and then let's use it to make money. But hey, what do I know. seriously, if you think it's that off mission, dump it.Pink mowse.pngEn attendant Godot 21:46, 25 August 2011 (UTC)
It's not that it is off-mission, I just didn't understand how it was on mission. Now I know but I am still not really getting that from reading it. Aceof SpadesSilverbrain.png 21:51, 25 August 2011 (UTC)
I can easily admit that it's not well enough written to put that point across. let me work on it. Pink mowse.pngEn attendant Godot 21:53, 25 August 2011 (UTC)
Sorry for not doing it myself but I can't really improve what I don't yet readily understand. Aceof SpadesSilverbrain.png 21:56, 25 August 2011 (UTC)
There are probably tons of VSEs from Christian programming that could qualify ("beware the gay"). Also the choice of the Dinosaurs VSE is kind of strange -- when I think of Dinosaurs, I think of the final episode where they fucking nuke all the volcanoes and cause themselves to go extinct. Nebuchadnezzar (talk) 22:00, 25 August 2011 (UTC)
Ace, you shouldn't have to do it. I wrote the article. My feeling on this (brx aside) is that if you write something as a begging article, it should stand enough on its own that others "get it", and find it part of the mission. So i'd not expect you to edit it for that. Not that I'm sure how to fix it... hum...Pink mowse.pngEn attendant Godot 22:17, 25 August 2011 (UTC)
Don't worry about what Brx says - he is inconsequential. Aceof SpadesSilverbrain.png 22:38, 25 August 2011 (UTC)
OK, I've done what I think it needs to be more clear, and be "on mission". So if it still feels "off mission", then it probably is. (and i'll just stick my tongue out and play with my cats.)Pink mowse.pngEn attendant Godot 01:02, 26 August 2011 (UTC)
I did some work on it and removed the mission thing. The article is about moralizing in media, which I think is on-mission.--ADtalkModerator 01:29, 26 August 2011 (UTC)

Removed "mission" statement for one hour[edit]

I'm on a micro laptop (7-inch screen), and it's hard to see the layout in preview with mission there. I'll put it back, i promise! Pink mowse.pngEn attendant Godot 00:28, 26 August 2011 (UTC)

Wait, what?[edit]

I haven't seen the Fanily Guy episode, but I've read it, and wasn't it sort of a parody? Like, the whole "people who would have been born" thing was an obvious parody, as well as pretty much everything. Can somebody please explain this? Messiah of Doom- Unite with thy Oracle (talk) 08:14, 10 October 2013 (UTC)

The first VSE I ever heard of was from "All in the Family"[edit]
