What navbox works[edit]

I'm not sure whether this belongs to a communist or anarchist ideology? TranslationForAll (talk) 18:25, 5 April 2022 (UTC)

Out of the three people cited on r/anti-work as 'essential', one is a Marxist, another a liberal imperialist, and another an anarchist. I don't think either navbox would be appropriate. Additionally, if we are to take a non-Reddit perspective, the literal definition of the term could encompass all sorts of historical groups. There's actually a really good book on this I'll link later if I find it, that would be good for this article. 2600:8806:0:C2:C9ED:C10:D273:52C9 (talk) 20:04, 5 April 2022 (UTC)
Found it Doing nothing : a history of loafers, loungers, slackers and bums in America. by: Lutz, Tom. Publication date: 2006. https://archive.org/details/producedabandone00mike 2600:8806:0:C2:F51B:46B7:F49B:3F55 (talk) 21:01, 5 April 2022 (UTC)
Since it doesn't fit into just leftism or anarchism I see the point that none of them would work. Would a general Politics or Economic navbox work better or nothing? TranslationForAll (talk) 15:22, 9 April 2022 (UTC)
Maybe a politics navbox yea 2600:8806:0:C2:40CE:8BF:1CC8:924A (talk) 12:41, 24 April 2022 (UTC)

Principled anti-work vs anti-work movement[edit]

I think the page title would be better phrased 'Principled anti-work' or something like that. The idea of a singular anti-work movement outside Reddit is dubious. And even the idea of it existing on Reddit as a literal movement is also uh, an interesting argument. But as I'm not the one who created the page, I'm just going with it, (implying, like every author so far that everything prior to Doreen is a historical antecedent to Doreen lol) with the occasional interjection that the 'Great Resignation' line from the media is mostly or entirely BS. 2600:8806:0:C2:F51B:46B7:F49B:3F55 (talk) 23:59, 5 April 2022 (UTC)

A better name and also a compromise might be "Anti-work movements" plural as a title 2600:8806:0:C2:F51B:46B7:F49B:3F55 (talk) 00:03, 6 April 2022 (UTC)

That would include other stuff and make the page more interesting, could even include Squatters Rights people, AOC's first Green New Deal draft fiasco, Church of the SubGenius etc 2600:8806:0:C2:F51B:46B7:F49B:3F55 (talk) 00:06, 6 April 2022 (UTC)

Parts of the UBI community are also arguably an 'anti-work movement', also historical 'I'll wreck my body and drop out of work to avoid this war' people etc2600:8806:0:C2:44AF:D26E:E4C0:293B (talk) 00:12, 6 April 2022 (UTC)

I see, there can be more opportunity to cover more subjects since this is just some random atheist thing where being lazy is a "virtue". I have reformatted the page to see if there can be more content added to it. TranslationForAll (talk) 17:42, 7 April 2022 (UTC)
(Sorry, I didn't mean to revert your talk page edits, I misclicked while trying to investigate what other edits got reverted here) Looi (talk) 16:52, 9 April 2022 (UTC)

Other concepts[edit]

What about the 'hippy and other communes', 'reduced working hours' and similar - and the 'long hours cultures'? Anna Livia (talk) 18:57, 29 April 2022 (UTC)

Maybe I’ll try to look over the second topic since I find the Iceland work experiment to be interesting. TranslationForAll (talk) 19:31, 29 April 2022 (UTC)
The Japanese have a term for 'death by overwork.'
There is 'an innate tendency to get the maximum reward for the minimum amount of work/energy expended' - and how many of 'them at the top' would do the work they delegate to the cleaning and other support staff? Anna Livia (talk) 09:44, 1 May 2022 (UTC)

Proposal to lessen Reddit stuff in this article more[edit]

Calling r/antiwork + stuff they cite a 'movement' constitutes "reddit stuff" imo. However amusing it is to have Doreen Ford as the centerpiece for everything related to anti-work, I don't think all of the stuff in the article constitutes a movement, nor does the subreddit deserve being framed as an endstage of all that came before it. Redditors tend to give Reddit overinflated importance. r/antiwork was a spammy, disconnected meme page, for most of it's life, not even anti-work lol 2600:8806:0:C2:70D5:2E12:9A5:6E45 (talk) 09:44, 9 May 2022 (UTC)

Rearranged lede a bit to lessen focus on r/antiwork and it's bizarre assertion they constitute a broad, historical movement 2600:8806:0:C2:70D5:2E12:9A5:6E45 (talk) 10:00, 9 May 2022 (UTC)
