Template talk:Userhead
Would this (these) be better at bottom left like the WIGOCP one? (or would that be better at top right?) ContribsTalk 08:14, 22 September 2008 (EDT)
- How about we make one version work on any page first, then pick the "best" location? Both locations seem to work pretty well, though I think the lower left might be best (it's always empty space). And a nice little 1 px black box around it would be cool - better yet, make it exactly match the navigation and toolbox things? ħuman 17:24, 22 September 2008 (EDT)
- I use Roboform and on some browsers it has a band along the bottom equivalent to the height of the status bar which obscures part of the floating WIGO template so keep that in mind when deciding positions. ГенгисIs the Pope a Catholic? 17:36, 22 September 2008 (EDT)
- H: dunno how to make box ContribsTalk 21:02, 22 September 2008 (EDT)
- Experiment? Copy? There's bound to be an argument like "border=npx", bordercolor=000000, etc. Look as userboxes, they use the "div" coding. ħuman 00:06, 23 September 2008 (EDT)
- Originally I did try with borders (& background colours) but you've got to precisely specify the div size & it throws things off. ContribsTalk 00:12, 23 September 2008 (EDT)
- The left border of all pages is always a consistent width, so that's easy. If height also needs specifying (does it?) that's trickier. How about putting a single table cell inside the div tags (with a border)? ħuman 01:31, 23 September 2008 (EDT)

Names with spaces - do they have to use the underscore? ħuman 01:55, 23 September 2008 (EDT)
- This works fine on all my home machines but here at work (Win2K & IE6) it doesn't float at all. ГенгисIs the Pope a Catholic? 03:40, 23 September 2008 (EDT)
- Probably the ie6's fault, sorry! ( get 7 or ffox) ContribsTalk 04:54, 23 September 2008 (EDT)
- Corporate policy, we're stuck with it until we change over to Vista next year. :( ГенгисIs the Pope a Catholic? 08:30, 23 September 2008 (EDT)

PAGENAMEE ...[edit]
... works with spaces in the names (does the space → underscore thing, it's called "URL encoded"") so don't need the workaround or any user input. ContribsTalk 08:24, 23 September 2008 (EDT)
I've put a trial different version on my User & talk pages - nice box in top right corner. ContribsTalk 09:06, 23 September 2008 (EDT)
V. 4.2[edit]
Is looking very nice. I like that you added "edit 0" to it. Nice conscise, clear documentation, too, with that "bottom right" example to boot! ħuman 20:24, 24 September 2008 (EDT)
- I'm working on a new version.
- it's a bit complicated see User:SusanG/Pagelinx2:
- You can't see the thing unless you put the javascript into your monobook.js (Thus quieting moaning minnies who didn't like it on WIGOcp talk)
- it should (she said hopefully) work anywhere as I've used MAGIC WORDS for talk page/article page
(is trent at it again? just got:
