Nutty Roux's position[edit]
I can appreciate that you'd want to pin the JacobB blowout on me since I was harshly critical of you on RW and in private email, but you've gotten the important stuff relating to me dead wrong. First, have a look at our correspondence from October 14, 15, and 19 2009. On October 14, in response to your post on RW stating you'd give the elevated rights account to whoever guessed the username, I emailed you asking a few questions about how you'd been running the JacobB account (what IP you were using, whether there were pending matters with sysops to address, and what the history of the JacobB character was). The crux of my email was that I was guessing the username, apparently correctly, and asking for more info. Your response was that you'd already given the JacobB password to someone else and that you'd only communicate with the email address to which you'd sent the password. My October 19, 2009 email asked whether someone was actually communicating with you from that address. Your quick response was that it had been a while since that person had gotten in touch with you. I'm not that person. I am aware that the password was floating around for a long time and that several people had it, but you never gave it to me (your emails to me reflect that) and I never got it otherwise. Second, your supposition that I'm the one who piloted JacobB into oblivion is wrong. I don't know who did the deed, but it wasn't me. I deny that (a) I ever had the JacobB password or (b) had anything to do with running JacobB in any manner on any occasion. I'll thank you to retract your claim that I am responsible for what happened. 20:13, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
- Two things I know for sure. You didn't give Nutty the password and Nutty didn't bring JacobB down. Aceword up 20:23, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
- Well, I'll be damned. It wasn't you. I was so sure it was, but now that I go back and look, I'm surprised to find out how badly I misremembered. I owe you an apology, Nutty. ChesterTheFatass (talk) 22:34, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
- You should have got your facts straight first off, asshole. Aceword up 22:41, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
- I now you're blaming The Emperor? How do you know it was him? I know of 7 different RWians that had the password (at the very least) so stop fucking accusing people - you don't know who it was asshole. Aceword up 22:44, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
- You're right, I should have gotten my facts straight first off. It hardly amounts to blaming, as I don't care at all, and it wasn't a bad thing. And I've apologized for saying it was Nutty when it wasn't. I was so sure it was him, and I don't know why I remembered giving my account to him. Pretty simple reason I say it was TheEmperor though: a search for the password in my gmail shows I gave it to one and only one person, TheEmperor. Therefore, it was either him, or somebody he gave the password to. Which I point out in the fourth paragraph of "the parthian incident."
- As deeply hurtful as I find being called an asshole by a stranger on the internet, I'm going to leave it as is since at least a few people have expressed interest in this account of things. If you want to change it, I won't cry foul. But it's the truth: I gave the password to only one person, TheEmperor. ChesterTheFatass (talk) 22:50, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
- I am not a stranger. Everyone knows Ace. Aceword up 22:53, 11 November 2010 (UTC)

Oh, here's why I thought Nutty did it. Just after I'd given TheEmperor the password, I got this email from Nutty:
- Hey Zelmerszoetrope,
- We're trying to figure out a few things to make this go a little more easily.
- First, what proxy did you use for JacobB? If no proxy, where were you located so we can find a proxy that will at least match up to your locale.
- Second, are there any pending matters other than TerryH's message on your talk page to deal with?
- Third, if there's an email history for this character, it would be of great help.
- This could be fun, but there's no point in doing it unless it can be done well. If you're willing to share some more info we might be able to pull this off.
- Nutty
So that was the source of my confusion, since this made it seem like he had account access, and as the person who clearly hated my most on RW, would have liked to see the account die. But as he said above, it wasn't him. So, fair enough. And if there were 7 people, as Ace said, then we might never know who it was. As I've said, I don't care. But it would be interesting to have that for the history of the account here. ChesterTheFatass (talk) 22:58, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
- I get emails like that from Nutty all the time -
- Hey Ace,
- Hows it going? I have pictures of you smuggling a live turkey through JFK airport
- Are you sure you want them circulated? Send me a picture of your tail bone or else I’ll show them to RobS.
- Signed Anon (Nutty)
Nutty aside...[edit]
Thanks for the interesting account. The place would've ceased to entertain much earlier if not for your antics -- somebody had to make sure the CBP actually happened! --Benod (talk) 20:28, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
Yes, thanks for the recap and the lulz. I'd love to hear more. Occasionaluse (talk) 21:03, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
- If you want to know more, just let me know what you want to know more about. A lot happened, and I interacted with all the admins with some frequency - except Conservative, of course.
- I shouldn't need to state the obvious: I won't discuss any current user who was not already an admin before I arrived on-site. If I know somebody to be a parodist, I wouldn't say for their protection, and if I know somebody to be a good-faith editor, I wouldn't say because then the fact that I'm not saying other editors are good-faith amounts to outing them. However, I will say that I risked my cover, stupidly, by outing myself to people I suspected of being parodists. I maintained communication with more than one such person. - I was particularly annoyed by your obliteration of PhilG:
- First, you archived Counterexamples to an Old Earth, leaving out all his comments
- Then, you claimed ownership for Joseph-Louis Lagrange
- And Andrew Schlafly didn't mind at all?

- I was particularly annoyed by your obliteration of PhilG:
You referred to Karajou as one of the "more reasonable admins". He's arguable the most acerbic on-site, with his silly demands and bullying. Are you telling us that there is a reasonable individual in there somewhere? Can you provide some anecdotes? Also, could you describe Geo's involvement with the project? Did Andy ever mention Addison? Did you ever voice/dismiss concerns about Ken? Did you get along with Rob? Does TK's voice sound like I think it does? Is there another discussion group? How active is it? Any noteworthy infighting? Thanks again. Occasionaluse (talk) 16:01, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
- I call Karajou one of the more reasonable admins because if you want help with a project, like re-categorization or something, he's willing to help. Unlike TK, who says, "Let me discuss this with Andy," or Ed, who will blank your talk page and request a writing plan, or Andy/Jpatt, who won't respond at all. I won't even discuss what makes Conservative unreasonable. I would have called Geo the most reasonable except for the fact that Geo is, as far as I can tell, done, and he has been for a while. The only interaction I observed Geo have with other admins was our mailing list for the Conservative of the Year award (for those who don't remember, it was Anita Hill's favorite person), my block of Daniel1212, which he immediately jumped on and emailed me about, and his immediately coming to my defense during the parthian incident.
- Andy never mentioned Addison to me, no. But the concerns about Ken as astonishing. A senior sysop - NOT, by the way, TK - let me in on a number of very private discussions about Ken, in which just about everybody agreed he was a detriment to the project. Basically, as author of their most popular articles, they feel obligated to let him have his fun, but they want to keep it off the main page as much as possible, and prevent people from seeing this stuff. They speculate as to his mental state just as seriously as people occasionally do on WIGO:CP talk.
- There was another discussion group, which I haven't been privy to since July, when that parthian incident happened, but I'm pretty sure it was the real one. I think they had a fake discussion group set up just to make me think that I had access to the real one, and see if I'd leak it. Maybe, if I'd gone a few more months without leaking it, they'd have let me in on the real one. I suspect this because I later learned they took away my access control because night editing was being switched off and on irregularly, and they suspected meit's entirely possible it was me. i may have turned it on during a vandal wave and forgotten to turn it off. oh, well.. Since I didn't see a thread discussing this in that discussion group, I suspect it wasn't real. Or maybe it was the real one, and they just didn't have a lot to say - maybe most real discussion was via email. CP was dead back in June/July when I was in it. Mostly the SDG i was privy to consisted of Conservative posting things, "New project! Atheism cowering in fear on the intertubes!", and not a single response. I think there was another thread discussing some minor technical problem, which was of course never resolved. There was no infighting. There's nothing to fight about anymore. - Does TK really not understand how IP addresses work? Or is he doing it on purpose? Occasionaluse (talk) 14:03, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
- Wait... so besides TZB and the Fab Five, in which they talk about TZB, they've also got a dummy chat room set up? Man, talk about wheels within wheels. And all for naught when you have a senior admin forwarding conversations anyway. TK has basically made sure there's no fighting behind the scenes anyway - those who did stand up to him are all gone now. It's funny tho, before he was readmitted, Karajou, Ed et al used to discuss him in much the same terms as they discuss Ken now. --Ψ GremlinPraat! 14:19, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
