Theistic evolutionist[edit]

Ref your recent comment in the saloon bar - are you really a theistic evolutionist or was that a joke?--Bob"I thought this was supposed to be "Rational" Wiki?." 12:41, 2 December 2012 (UTC)

No it was not a joke. I am a theistic evolutionist. I am not a Christian or religious, and am agnostic on the identity of God/s. I tend to learn towards pantheism/panentheism though. I reject the idea of a personal, anthropomorphic deity. Forests (talk) 15:02, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
So why does this non-personal, non-anthropomorphic deity of yours interfere in evolution?--Bob"I thought this was supposed to be "Rational" Wiki?." 16:50, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
The philosopher Christian de Quincey has discussed it on his blog, see the third section titled "Intelligent evolution" Link for a quick overview (I don't agree with all his conclusions, but you get the idea). Forests (talk) 19:57, 4 December 2012 (UTC)
Rather than a "read this" post I'd prefer to hear your explanation of why your particular version of a non-personal, non-anthropomorphic deity interferes in evolution.--Bob"I thought this was supposed to be "Rational" Wiki?." 20:44, 4 December 2012 (UTC)
Bob I am in the process at the moment of compiling an actual list of points about theistic evolution, once I have completed it, I will paste it here. Forests (talk) 15:28, 9 December 2012 (UTC)
I'll look forward to seeing it. The idea of theistic evolution which which I most familiar with is the Christian version where God uses evolution to produce mankind. While clearly wrong in the sense that evidence in its favour is entirely lacking, it at least explains why an imaginary Christian God would theoretically want to do it. (Though it's not clear why he would need or want to go such a long way around to achieve his goals.)
But as you seem to be going for a non-personal, non-anthropomorphic deity even this "why" is lacking. Why on earth would such a deity care about making humans? So It would be great to see both the "how" (how much intervention, how often, how can it be identified etc) and the "why" (why does it care? what is it's objective? etc) covered in your post.--Bob"I thought this was supposed to be "Rational" Wiki?." 16:50, 9 December 2012 (UTC)

email[edit]

check your email. Boglin (talk) 02:23, 7 December 2012 (UTC) Phone me between 8:00 am or in the after noon - need to speak to you. Boglin (talk) 02:24, 7 December 2012 (UTC)

Archiving[edit]

It's quite easy. Create a page like User talk:Forests/Archive and copy everything on this page and paste it into the new one. Once you save that you can delete everything on this page (but make sure to keep a link to your archive) and you're done! Sam Tally-ho! 07:24, 12 December 2012 (UTC)

Archive? Already? I hope your not going to archive the "Theistic evolutionist" section you said you were going to answer above!--Bob"I thought this was supposed to be "Rational" Wiki?." 10:35, 12 December 2012 (UTC)
