Comments[edit]
If anybody has good faith advice regarding this project plan, please provide it, even if you're not Christian. Specifically, I am concerned about not attracting activists who will not like various articles (e.g., on homosexuality). Thanks. HGHeartOfGold talk 00:28, 24 May 2007 (CDT)
Funding[edit]
Anybody have an idea about how much money I should need to fund this? E.g., as the project grows, larger servers and greater bandwidth will be required. HGHeartOfGold talk 00:30, 24 May 2007 (CDT)
Wiki Source for multiple article spaces[edit]
Does current wiki software allow for multiple article spaces with a default, allowing users to select which article space they want to use as default, if not the main? HGHeartOfGold talk 00:30, 24 May 2007 (CDT)
- In current WikiSoftware there is no function that will do this. You could achieve an affect similar to this by setting it so that the default search setting for all users searched all spaces or "their" space. -Ĭ₠ŴΣĐĝё 00:23, 25 May 2007 (CDT)
- Thanks. I haven't researched the wiki software, but do you think it would be hard to modify for somebody who knows C, Perl, and other programming langauges? HGHeartOfGold talk 01:26, 24 May 2007 (CDT)
- Or perhaps setting up multiple related wikis, e.g., lmcs.ChristianWorldViewEncyclopedia.org, sbc.ChristianWorldViewEncyclopedia.org... HGHeartOfGold talk 01:31, 24 May 2007 (CDT)

- Namespaces kinda do it, but would be clunky -- every link would need to include both the namespace and the article name. It probably wouldn't be too hard to change things to use the current article's namespace as the 'default', though. Another option would be to host with Wikia - I think they make it easy to have multiple wikis link to each other, and would avoid the hosting headaches. I know nothing about their terms of service or cost structure (if any), though. --jtltalk 04:35, 24 May 2007 (CDT)
Overall Tone of Site[edit]
I'm probably telling you something you already know, but I will do so anyway. One of the major problems I had with CP was the overall tone of the site. Differing opinions on religion or politics I can understand, and discussed in a rational and calm manner have no problem with. Unfortunately many individuals on the other site took on an extraordinarily hostile tone, often falling back on attacks of "Libruls" when faced with an alternate point of view. As I understand it, you are making a Christian World View site, which would run into the same kinds of ideological differences as CP, but how different opinions are handled will influence your clientel and contributors. I would have been happy to help editing and creating articles on CP even though I am not Christian or Conservative, however when some sysops began to launch personal attacks my feelings changed. Of course, from what I have seen of your work, I doubt you will have such a problem. Good Luck.Prof0705 07:12, 25 May 2007 (CDT)
- I think that the edits and tone of HoG here and on CP show a remarkable amount of tolerance; I'd think that by not issuing mighty and grandiose proclamations on this new wiki, this could work - although it won't get as much traffic (CP got a lot of traffic from being really strident). Oh, and HoG - when you register the domain, I'd like to lend a hand - I've got to find some use for my GCSE in κοινη greek. Good luck with it! --ύικιντερπρηρwoo!
My comments[edit]
Hiya, HG. I wish I had more brilliance to share, but I don't
One. Cost - ask ColinR, ask Tmtoulouse. This site is hosted on a "wiki-friendly" host, but bandwidth is limited, obviously. Remember when Cp got "outed" to the world? Their site basically crashed. But apparently Andy had the cash to spend to upgrade.
Two. divisions/sects. My "outside" opinion here is a bit harsh. If you "Christians" can't figure out what you all believe, what is the point? (cf: Emo Phillips - "die, heretic!").
Three. If you get it started - and you'll need a lot of "elders" to get it going, it seems, I wish you well. It sounds like an interesting project. And your desire to do it well shows me why you were so dissapointed with CP. humanbe in 22:30, 2 June 2007 (CDT)
