2025 RationalWiki 'Oregon Plan' Fundraiser

There is no RationalWiki without you. We are a small non-profit with no staff—we are hundreds of volunteers who document pseudoscience and crankery around the world every day. We will never allow ads because we must remain independent. We cannot rely on big donors with corresponding big agendas. We are not the largest website around, but we believe we play an important role in defending truth and objectivity.

Fighting pseudoscience isn't free.

Love it[edit]

I love this. It would make a wonderful funspace article. Suggestions:

  1. Rule 1.3 is unnecessary. Yes, statements will exist in the SPIHB.
  2. Rules 1.6-8 seem duplicative. Injunctions/claims/dilemmas/events/facts aren't all that different. A sufficiently vague phrase like "on all matters" should cover all necessary ground in just one rule.
  3. Rules 1.4 and 1.9 are duplicative. "[D]irectly or by proxy" and "means other than the Smallest Possible Inerrant Holy Book" are nearly synonymous.
  4. I love the idea of "Ab". All it needs is some unit system, because right now it's not possible to tell which everyday person would get more Ab. I would specify something like: "Nonbelievers have 0 Ab, Believers get +1 Ab, Believers get +1 Ab per year of belief, Believers get +1 Ab per SPIHB rule they follow, All persons get -1 Ab per SPIHB rule they break".
  5. Rules 3.3-4 are unnecessary. "Follow your group's morality UNLESS it conflicts with SPIHB's morality" (rules 3.1-2) is sufficient to be internally consistent.
