Er, have we ever once denied sysop status to an established user that asked for it? tmtoulouse heckle 14:21, 11 August 2008 (EDT)

Yes. PapaThermodyne 15:56, 11 August 2008 (EDT)
Well if we want to do this pedantically then: okay please show me the evidence? tmtoulouse heckle 16:00, 11 August 2008 (EDT)
I think TK and Bohdan could come under that umbrella. However, neither of those had the interests of RW at heart which should be an additional requirement to just being an established user. Jollyfish.gifGenghisOur ignorance is God; what we know is science. 16:07, 11 August 2008 (EDT)
Everytime Bohdan has asked he has been made a sysops. TK is a special case in regards to many policies. I would challenge anyone to try and create a "systemic problem" based on such an outlier. Others would include HeartofGold and that's all I can think of. Even HeartofGold was made a sysops for a long time. We do have a requirement for being a sysops and that is that a user is known to be "mostly harmless." If they can not meet that most basic of criteria than I have no problem not demoting them. tmtoulouse heckle 16:09, 11 August 2008 (EDT)
Well, we used to make people jump through hoops at RationalWiki:Requests for Sysop, but after that things got a bit less controlled. Why are we discussing this on this page?--Bobbing up 16:39, 11 August 2008 (EDT)
