2025 RationalWiki 'Oregon Plan' Fundraiser

There is no RationalWiki without you. We are a small non-profit with no staff—we are hundreds of volunteers who document pseudoscience and crankery around the world every day. We will never allow ads because we must remain independent. We cannot rely on big donors with corresponding big agendas. We are not the largest website around, but we believe we play an important role in defending truth and objectivity.

Fighting pseudoscience isn't free.
We are 100% user-supported! Help and donate $5, $10, $20 or whatever you can today with PayPal Logo.png!

Snark[edit]

Fox is nothing more than propaganda, hence why we include that without a strike. If we were being snarky, then we probably would. Zero (talk - contributions) 12:49, 7 July 2014 (UTC)

Oh. I thought that putting "propaganda machine" without evidence nearby (most of it is in "Criticism" section) looked a bit odd. Wonderful Pizza (talk) 13:06, 7 July 2014 (UTC)
Have a look at RationalWiki:What is a RationalWiki article?. Then pay close attention to the humor section for a bit of a feeling. Zero (talk - contributions) 13:09, 7 July 2014 (UTC)
Oooh. I get it. It's just my sense of justice for the opposition getting to me again, then. >_> Wonderful Pizza (talk) 13:18, 7 July 2014 (UTC)

Ring species[edit]

This. Redchuck.gif ГенгисOur ignorance is God; what we know is science. Moderator 17:50, 20 July 2014 (UTC)

Hmm. By Ring Species, I mean a species that has evolved so separately that the later generations cannot breed. Is there some other name then? Wonderful Pizza (talk) 18:04, 20 July 2014 (UTC)
A ring species is supposedly one that varies genetically with location so that near neighbours are able to interbreed without any problem but as the populations diverge geographically those at the farthest extremes of the population cannot interbreed because they have become so dissimilar. That's the theory, but apparently there is no longer any good evidence of examples to support it. So it's probably better not to bring that up in support of speciation. I guess I've gotta look into this subject more closely. I'll be keeping the argument until I'm completely convinced, though. Wonderful Pizza (talk) 08:39, 21 July 2014 (UTC)
