## Look, I dont mean to sound like a dissenter......but....

....am I the only that thinks he is pulling a little princess moment, watching the pages intently, waiting for everyone to say "oh pleaz I sorryz!" only to come back and be the same? I know I am, well, a bastard at times but nonetheless......Ace McWickedRevolt 02:36, 2 April 2009 (EDT)

Oh, I'm convinced you're right...but you do have to be careful. I'd prefer to make a tit out of myself by reaching out than have somebody actually troubled by all this nonsense we get up to here. Yes, he's a total drama queen, but he's also only 14 - and I know I had some pretty strange opinions of myself and of the world when I was that age, and I'll bet the same is true for you Ace. DogP 02:50, 2 April 2009 (EDT)
Hormones. ГенгисOur ignorance is God; what we know is science. 03:00, 2 April 2009 (EDT)
Don't think he's old enuff to understand the stupidity that goeth with being an adult. and marmite 03:02, 2 April 2009 (EDT)
I dont wanna offend the poor bastard and, at that age (fuck it seems like, ironically enough, an age ago) I sure felt a little fuct up and unable to make sense of myself nor the world around me. I just feel like we are being played and, true to his style, bending our collective will to suit his view. I'm just sayin... Hmmmmmm Ace McWickedRevolt 03:17, 2 April 2009 (EDT)
I just find the veiled threats in his final shot re: jail and suicide talk a little like classical attention seeking behaviour and even in absence, has pulled the community back in his direction. Hmmmmmm. mutter mutter jibber jabber (and as one wise man used to end his posts "all disclaimers apply"). Ace McWickedRevolt 03:30, 2 April 2009 (EDT)
Actually, I was not suggesting I would, I was merely pointing out that flaming hurts the person who it is done to. --The Trickster 16:40, 2 April 2009 (EDT)
Like I say, you're right.....but. DogP 10:52, 2 April 2009 (EDT)
Yes, of course he's pulling a drama queen move - and he's probably too young to even realize it - it's just what he's like. The way I see it, there are roughly four possible "responses" to such hissy-fits. 1. "Good riddance", 2. "Oh noes, please don't go", 3. No response, and 4. Friendly snark. As I recall, I chose (4), many chose (3), some chose (1), and (2) was in short supply - which is good, because (2) is the lamest one. Anyway, I'm sure our pet twerp will be back, but I hope he also takes a little time away for contemplation, playing outside, etc. ħuman 16:07, 2 April 2009 (EDT)
Well, there were a few sickening (2)'s I am afraid. Me I chose the snark. Ace McWickedRevolt 16:18, 2 April 2009 (EDT)
Grading: Trent: originality 9/10, suckering people, 8/10, not getting 2ed, 10/10, getting 1ed, 10/10. 92.5, A minus.
Felicious One: originality 3/10, suckering people, 9/10, not getting 2ed, 4/10, getting 1ed, 6/10. 55.0, C minus on a curve. ħuman 18:41, 2 April 2009 (EDT)
Actually Human I suspect the "April Fool's" bit from CUR was a mere excuse to come back after recovering from his hissy fit. Ace McWickedRevolt 18:49, 2 April 2009 (EDT)
Actually, it was. I admit that openly and freely. I only say that RationalWiki is deeply embedded in me and I can't leave it, even though I would like nothing more indeed. --The Trickster 21:10, 2 April 2009 (EDT)
If that is the case then CUR you must adapt to this place particulalry your most recent "revert/delete". That didnt make fun of you in the slightest and should cause no offence. Just because you dont like it doesnt mean you can just delete on a whim. Ace McWickedRevolt 21:20, 2 April 2009 (EDT)
Sounds like a good time to raise the price of the "merchandise" to me. ħuman 21:21, 2 April 2009 (EDT)

## Mmmmm disturbing

For human. MMMMMM Disturbing

Gee, thank Ace. But why does he have a Lady's haircut? (PS, old cartoon caption: I'll convert you to Christianity, son, if you will show me how to grow one of those!")

## SES Application Scans

I need ur emails. Neveruse513 15:20, 3 April 2009 (EDT)

Either see: "e-mail this user" (bottom left in "toolbox"). Or use this: one@humanthoughts.org (off his website). and marmite 15:32, 3 April 2009 (EDT)
Human, does that mean someone got Andy's SES application through FOIA? If so, can has?-Diadochus 15:39, 3 April 2009 (EDT)
Neveruse has: he's premusably got 'em scanned & needs 'em OCRing. (see last comment here.) and marmite 15:44, 3 April 2009 (EDT)
Thanks for the address. Also, is it possible to upload the PDFs directly to RW? Neveruse513 15:47, 3 April 2009 (EDT)
I think not, you could upload it somewhere else & give the link. I'm at terrygwilson@googlemail.com if you want me to try. and marmite 15:51, 3 April 2009 (EDT)
Can we have a teaser? Perhaps one of the lulzier moments in the application? PLEEZ! [[User:Theemperor|User:Theemperor/Sig/name]][[User talk:Theemperor|User:Theemperor/Sig/talk]] 15:57, 3 April 2009 (EDT)

If something gets mailed to me I can host it on RW easy enough, at the moment there is no way for users to upload much more than images. tmtoulouse 16:05, 3 April 2009 (EDT)

No share? With me? Please! Sterilewalkie-talkie 22:10, 3 April 2009 (EDT)
We'll all share. We're commies. It's sad that Neveruse is struggling to scan, I have a scanner at my hand. Although, I can't make pdfs, so I guess it's cool. ħuman 00:35, 4 April 2009 (EDT)

I'm assuming that Neveruse paid for a paper copy via the mail. Perhaps we should move some of this to Neveruse's orange box? Not that I mind it being here, but I'm not exactly the nexus of this exploit, NU is. ħuman 00:46, 4 April 2009 (EDT)

## Essay Space

Just to prove that demotions are not very useful, I must say I am quite wiki illiterate and have no idea how to build an "essay space". Would you check quickly to see if my latest rant made it correctly into the "essay space". Essay:A Constutional Amendment in Iowa‎ (great the title has a typo in it. that I will fix.)--En attendant Godot"«Nous naissons tous fous. Quelques-uns le demeurent.» 15:23, 6 April 2009 (EDT)Essay:A Constitutional Amendment in Iowa‎

Yes, what you did worked. Simple using a title that starts "Essay:" is all that is required (similarly, "Debate:" puts something in the debate namespace). This only works if the namespace in question is "configured", of course, which those are. EG, at CP, since the namespaces don't actually exist, all their essays and debates are actually in the mainspace (AFAIK). Anyway - easy way to be sure - look at the far left tab above the page - it will say "essay" if you succeeded, whereas in the mainspace is will say "article". ħuman 17:11, 6 April 2009 (EDT)

## re: Xena.

Dude, dial it back a notch. Belligerency is my schtick, and I usually save it for CUR. TheoryOfPractice 00:11, 8 April 2009 (EDT)

Dude, thank for the concern - and the advice. But when a new user (yeah, as if) makes hundreds of edits and half of them are fucking lame, sadly, I end up with a microchip on my shoulder. Especially when they show no real understanding of what we are doing, and ignore most comments on their talk page. But, that said, advice taken under advisement. PS, if anyone sysops that wanker I'll undo it. ħuman 00:14, 8 April 2009 (EDT)
Dude I sysopped her days ago. EVERYONE is a sysop. TheoryOfPractice 00:15, 8 April 2009 (EDT)
Oh. Yeah, I forgot. ħuman 00:18, 8 April 2009 (EDT)
On that point when did a few days become standard? I use to use at least a month and at least 50 edits as a rule. - User $\scriptstyle\sqrt{12}\sum_{n=0}^{\infty}(-3)^{-n}(2n+1)^{-1}$ 00:27, 8 April 2009 (EDT)
When RA started sysoping everyone in sight. I also used to have a standard (a week or two or three, bunch of edits, etc.) but those all went down the drain, and Trent approved of the "mostly harmless" doctrine, so that's what we have now. Essentially, as ToP says, "everyone's a sysop [except Fall Down]". PS, I apollywoggied to Xena. ħuman 00:31, 8 April 2009 (EDT)
I think I am kind of at fault for the RA thing. I think at one point I had made a third of the sites sysops and twice as many as RA, he went on a binge after that. It is the mostly harmless bit that worries me, we seem to be sysoping people who are quite confrontational, general distractions and people who have no idea how to use the wiki software. The latter is my greater concern, when you have to explain linking to a sysop you doubt their ability to do the job. Just my \$0.0141459. - User $\scriptstyle\sqrt{12}\sum_{n=0}^{\infty}(-3)^{-n}(2n+1)^{-1}$ 00:37, 8 April 2009 (EDT)
Well, Pi, it was easy for anyone to aggravate RA's desire to outdo, so no harm there. As far as "mostly harmless", RA defined it as "edited for three hours and didn't vape the main page". No harm, really, I think, in backing off to a slightly saner, less competitive approach to sysopping. As in, sure, everyone gets to be one - once they are at least acclimated and - sorry to add this - answer fucking messages on their talk page. ħuman 01:09, 8 April 2009 (EDT)
Well at least you answer the fucking messages on your talk page in a fashion ;) (why don't we have a winking smiley yet). - User $\scriptstyle\sqrt{12}\sum_{n=0}^{\infty}(-3)^{-n}(2n+1)^{-1}$ 01:14, 8 April 2009 (EDT)
Who, me? hell, half the conversations here are over by the time I get up. Oh, yeah. Well, I try. And where's the magic smiley bar I thought someone made for edittools? ħuman 01:19, 8 April 2009 (EDT)
1. importScript('User:Nx/Scripts/Smileybox.js');
2. Try living on the other side of the planet from most of the editors.
3. I liked peer review, it is what most of the articles need.
- User $\scriptstyle\sqrt{12}\sum_{n=0}^{\infty}(-3)^{-n}(2n+1)^{-1}$ 01:23, 8 April 2009 (EDT)

<--

1. Easy for you to say.
2. I live on the other side of the planet form all' of you!
3. It makes sense to us, but I think it looks weird to noobs. Seriously, we're hard enough on them as it is, what with the obligatory goat worship and all. ħuman 01:26, 8 April 2009 (EDT)

### Smileys

PS, does your script work in "adfree"? It's already in my monobook.jism there. ħuman 01:28, 8 April 2009 (EDT)
It should go in monobook.js or monobook_adfree.js; however you don't need adfree any more as there are no ads. - User $\scriptstyle\sqrt{12}\sum_{n=0}^{\infty}(-3)^{-n}(2n+1)^{-1}$ 01:30, 8 April 2009 (EDT)
I know on both points. Care to look at my monobook adssucks.js (oops) and see if I forgotted something? ħuman 01:33, 8 April 2009 (EDT)
Eh, I bet i know what it is. I killed the edit tool bar above the edit window because it loads slow and instead of the first character one types one gets some silly wikimarkup. Did that also kill the smiley bar? Can you put the smiley bar below the edit window with the greek and stuff? ħuman 01:35, 8 April 2009 (EDT)
How did you kill it? - User $\scriptstyle\sqrt{12}\sum_{n=0}^{\infty}(-3)^{-n}(2n+1)^{-1}$ 01:40, 8 April 2009 (EDT)
Preferences - Editing - uncheck "Show edit toolbar (JavaScript)" ħuman 01:43, 8 April 2009 (EDT)
We could put it down the bottom but if you look at it it is a very javascript thing, I wouldn't know how to present it in that table below. - User $\scriptstyle\sqrt{12}\sum_{n=0}^{\infty}(-3)^{-n}(2n+1)^{-1}$ 01:52, 8 April 2009 (EDT)
Oh well :( ;) ħuman 01:57, 8 April 2009 (EDT)

## Favor...

Could you manage the Pi - Xena spat? I have to get to bed to get the bus for my train trip tomorrow, so... 6.5 hours of sleep is gunna be a stretch. Thank ye, JĀvąṢ₡ä₰ hi there 23:50, 8 April 2009 (EDT)

Pi is eating sushi and is about to go to class, so will be no problems in a minute. - User $\scriptstyle\sqrt{12}\sum_{n=0}^{\infty}(-3)^{-n}(2n+1)^{-1}$ 23:53, 8 April 2009 (EDT)
I doubt I can, since she is pissing me off too. It's more like the Xena/RW spat. ħuman 23:54, 8 April 2009 (EDT)
Count me in. I've been wandering around all day, trying to understand what she means half the time, and why the other half is supposed to be funny. I know, I have no sense of humor.--En attendant Godot"«Nous naissons tous fous. Quelques-uns le demeurent.» 00:07, 9 April 2009 (EDT)
Is she our friend Teresita? I was reading ad hominem after the Ayn Rand comment on Xena's talk page, where someone dismissed it on the basis of her other views, and the fact that after reading our article I am less sure of what ad hominem means reminded me of her editing style. - User $\scriptstyle\sqrt{12}\sum_{n=0}^{\infty}(-3)^{-n}(2n+1)^{-1}$ 00:10, 9 April 2009 (EDT)
Yes she is. Anyway, WfG, yeah, about 1/3 (and dropping) of her edits seem very good. The other 2/3 (and climbing) are batshit random droppings in out-of-context places in articles. Luckily (gawd, RA would skewer me for this, if he was still around), she has threatened in several places to take her ball and go home. I wish she would, as you said, just slow down and think more, perhaps we'd only get the "good" edits. Although, she fucking footnotes nothing, she links nothing, and she doesn't bother to even follow our style. I call "wiki-wanker". She musta got kicked out of somewhere else and came back to us for her fix. ħuman 00:16, 9 April 2009 (EDT)
I am available for awhile to manage xena if she starts making foolish edits once more. I could use a fight. Ace McWickedbitch and moan 00:44, 9 April 2009 (EDT)
Hehe, Ace, when I see you editing "favor" on my talk page I immediately think "he wants me to break something", and then think, "what the hell, sounds like fun". Sadly, in regards of your opportunity to join in this equal opportunity slugfest, she seems to have gone AFK a while ago. HOWEEEEVER! She might wake up long before me - and while you are still twilighting tomorrow's hangover. So keep an eye out in a few hours. Ciao! ħuman 00:58, 9 April 2009 (EDT)
Teresita anyone? -- So the stuff about "j" looked too polished for a "one off", and i googled. check out the language on "The Book of J" here, and our newly added additions. I really hate socks. http://theologicalscribbles.blogspot.com/2008/07/number-1-most-influential-theological.html

--En attendant Godot"«Nous naissons tous fous. Quelques-uns le demeurent.» 10:54, 9 April 2009 (EDT)

This may only be marginally relevant, but in quite a few of her recent "additions" I've seen random "extra" CRs (that the wiki of course ignores). Typical evidence of copy/pasting. I hope she's only bringing things she wrote on board... ħuman 15:02, 9 April 2009 (EDT)

## Random CP

Let's stop assaulting Trent's talkpage. Drop this into your monobook_adfree.js and hit show preview. You should see it immediately. //

This is the indented version. --  Nx/talk  00:29, 9 April 2009 (EDT)

OK. As far as his talk page, it's only "one" orange box. I'll try it. Do I need the last pair of //'s? Or were you editing a MW/JS mix? ħuman 01:01, 9 April 2009 (EDT)
Money! Nice. You should port that to the sitewide js I think. (Notice how I'm used to playing dictator of all things RW if I think they're good ideas?) And we should promote it a little, so people know it happened. Off to edit blackboard now, as soon as you move it to sitewide js. ħuman 01:07, 9 April 2009 (EDT)
(EC) The first and last line of js comments combined with html comments is there to hide it from MW, it's useful to put that into .js files because mediawiki will try to parse them as wikitext when displaying diffs. Anyway, to test out the non-indented version, change
n_randompage.parentNode.insertBefore(n_randomcpul,n_randompage.nextSibling);
//n_randompage.parentNode.insertBefore(n_randomcp2,n_randompage.nextSibling);

to

//n_randompage.parentNode.insertBefore(n_randomcpul,n_randompage.nextSibling);
n_randompage.parentNode.insertBefore(n_randomcp2,n_randompage.nextSibling);

Which one should it be? --  Nx/talk  01:08, 9 April 2009 (EDT)

I didn't test. (It took me twelveteen hours to even understand your comment!) I think the indented version is appropriate - it says "this isn't a main thing" - and may even get people's attention. OK, I'll go test... ergh... ħuman 01:12, 9 April 2009 (EDT)
OK, obviously, both work. I prefer the indented - maybe we should bring screenshots to talk WIGO CP? The people there are the ones who care about this. Or just do it... (that gets my vote). It's an awesome toy for the CP-obsessed who come here. I would have already pasted it into the sitewide mb.js, but I couldn't find the place to do it in my cursory search. PS, when you add things like that, in the js comments you should "sign and date" them. For pride, but also for the history. ħuman 01:17, 9 April 2009 (EDT)
Done. I've uploaded some screenshots, I'll leave the rest to you. You can toggle it like this --  Nx/talk  01:33, 9 April 2009 (EDT)
Oops, wait... it should only appear on CP namespace pages, not everywhere. Did I forget to test that? We really don't want this "everywhere", just where the CP hounds hang out. ħuman 01:36, 9 April 2009 (EDT)
The test version appears everywhere to allow you to test it with show preview (since your monobook_adfree is in Userspace). Remove that from you monobook. --  Nx/talk  01:42, 9 April 2009 (EDT)
Whew, thanks. I was just using a CP page and ignoring everything else. ħuman 01:46, 9 April 2009 (EDT)

## Break something....

...you know you want to. Or set something on fire. Ace McWickedbitch and moan 01:03, 9 April 2009 (EDT)

Fire. It's been raining ass lately. Sunday is supposed to be dry and cleary skies. I have a couch I "dismantled" this winter (nice dry, dense wood), and lots of other crap around. Likely my Esther Pageant will involve heaps of flames and one or seven lovely glasses of the breath of life. Oh, and maybe I'll break something as well, in your honor, my favorite insane kiwi. (OK, you're my only kiwi, but still...) ħuman 01:06, 9 April 2009 (EDT)
Ahh fire, good for everything. I once stole a giddeons bible from a hotel and started a fire in my bedroom the following evening so we could sit around and listen to me read stories from it. Smoke alarms, burnt carpet and loss of money followed. Actually the story behind retrieving the bible is interesting in itself but we'll save that for another time. Ace McWickedbitch and moan 01:09, 9 April 2009 (EDT)
I have a nice little "fire stand" I welded up a year or two ago, sits about 8 feet (2 meters) from a big ole hunk of granite in my field. Gots two 7 foot (2 meters) hunks of white oak for sittin' on. I loves me a little late-night burn. Flicker flicker pretty flames. Yes, I am a pyromaniac careful ex-Scout. ħuman 01:21, 9 April 2009 (EDT)
I have had my fairshare of fire-fun, oh yes. And garnered police attention because of it. Ironic really. Ace McWickedbitch and moan 01:25, 9 April 2009 (EDT)

## Various stuffs

First, I just had a look at your website and I have to say that I truly admire that you've got such a lovely garden. Your personal website on it is inspired. I built a similar composter and always wondered if there was any sense in saving the "juice" that ran out, and now I know that I can just pour it on something that needs a hand. I also live in a place where it freezes in the winter so I can leave my kitchen waste outdoors. I cut the bottom off a kitty litter bucket, maybe 6 inches, and buried it in the ground by the garage with 4 stakes through corners to keep it from moving. I store my kitchen cuttings in another identical kitty litter bucket that I just keep the lid on tightly and set down in the other bucket bottom. That keeps critters from overturning it, and the lids on those things are hard enough for people to remove that none of my cat's enemies have gotten into it. I don't use it in the summer because rats and mice would chew through the plastic. I suspect they haven't over the last few winters because the cold air keeps any interesting scents at bay. It's easy enough to walk 15 more feet to throw stuff in the composter. We should talk about above ground planters. Cheers.

Second, I have my dad's Bose speakers from the late 60's. They're the ones that are in the shape of a smashed 6 sided box, with 3 faces, 2 short sides, and a large back. The speakers are in the 3 faces. Some of the cones buzz, so I think it's best just to get all of them reconed. Given your superior experience with loudspeakers, do you think it's worth doing? Are these old Bose crap or what? They sounded great until they shitted out after 30 years of good service.

Third, I have some Bose 301's that also need reconing. Is it worth it?

Fourth, do you have ideas about getting a nice integrated amp/receiver like an old solid state or tube Macintosh or something similar? I don't know a damned thing about these things, but I'm ready to replace my Yamaha. Is there a way to add a surround sound processor to a stereo amp?

Thee Nuttish Talk 19:27, 12 April 2009 (EDT)

Wow, this was like emails I get from "customers"!

One, I appreciate you like my garden. I always loved houseplants, but they are so fickle. When I finally owned "dirt", it became a different story. Re:compost. Fucking squirrels will chew through anything to get to food. My system failed slightly there.

Two, those sound like 901s. Worst speaker I ever heard. Throw them out. Unless you/he really liked them, so then fix them up.

Three, 301s are the six inch two-way, right? Yup those are cool, I like them from what little experience I have with them.

Fourth, eBay? Figure out what you want and set up a search for it? The old Macs go for good money... Second part, "yes". Tape loop, processor, more amps for the surround signals. Hope this helped a bit... ħuman 23:03, 12 April 2009 (EDT)

Nice talking to you today. I forgot to ask your real name or get your phone number, but whatever. Seems like we covered most of your questions. As far as DCRM (??) ing Schlalfy and his theft-site, go for it. ħuman 03:03, 14 April 2009 (EDT)

Yeah, T is worse. After the Mega binge, I was lonely for some silly Cur action. I, er, closed my XP and it wouldn't reboot. I'm not running on an old mirrored HD that worked, copied lots of shit off the pooched HD, but still had to re-download and install firefox for it to work. Haven't succeeded yet with TB. I'm fucked, basically. I get to spend all tomorrow trying to re-access my emails without losing any. ħuman 02:17, 14 April 2009 (EDT)

Yup, it sucks. I am back on FF, after failed attempts since my last edits here. TB simply isn't loading, so I am screwed. Maybe six or seven more reboots will heal this POS? meantime, I should make some fresh backup CDs... I am so screwed, I hate losing data.... ħuman 02:51, 14 April 2009 (EDT)

I see you desysopped me on a whim. Apparently now any one who portrays RationalWiki in a bad way is desysopped. If you do not give a better rational or resysop me, I will take you to the Admin Abuse desk. You have 5 minutes. --The Trickster 16:14, 22 April 2009 (EDT)

CUR, please.. calm down. Emotional reactions will get you nowhere, nor will demands/ultimatums, especially with Human (in my opinion, not knowing either of you personally). If you truly want your sysopship back, here are my suggestions: 1) study the issues leading to this occurrance. 2) acknowledge your part in it 3) devise a plan to not have this happen again 4) relay this plan to Human and convince him of your sincerity. 5) sysopship should be returned to you. viola! - Refugeetalk page 16:22, 22 April 2009 (EDT)

You know what, I would have done the same thing as Human. After cutting a deal behind our backs with Fall Down, and then putting yourself forth as a representative of our site and being a supreme embarrassment, you can't be trusted to be a representative of the site, i.e. a sysop. You were given back your powers on the grounds that we would see if you could be responsible enough, and you weren't. Stop bitching about things well within your power to prevent. --Kels 16:28, 22 April 2009 (EDT)

## INhuman

Has anybody every actually bought that thing?! And while we are discussing your company, I would also like to know what speaker you would recommend for a laptop computer, if you sell speakers oriented for laptop computers. JĀvąṢ₡ä₰ hi there 17:02, 23 April 2009 (EDT)

Well of course, the INHuman is a joke... a purely fictional piece of vaporware. Not that I might not build a pair one day for fun... As far as laptop speakers, I guess I'd recommend the same as for any purpose - good sounding ones that balance the usual compromise between space constraints and overall sound quality (smaller speakers usually giving up more and more bass). So, at the "simplest", plug the laptop into an existing stereo via its line out jack(s) and an aux or tape input on the stereo. For a "standalone" dock on a desk, get an amplifier or receiver you deem appropriate, add some good speakers and that's the stereo system to plug the laptop into. Since the speakers will probably be quite close to you, a decent 6" two-way ought to be fine. My PC is plugged into a cheap used receiver which powers a couple of old EPI 60s. Then I run a tape output from the receiver through about 80 feet of interconnect to my "main" receiver, where it goes into a tape input. The main receiver send a tape output to the factory stereo with its overhead speakers and so on and so on. The upshot being I can listen to any source everywhere at once, and control it all with some extra remotes and remote repeaters.
A "schematic" is at the bottom of this file. Note, the office is in the factory, and the Genesis 11 speakers "in" the factory are actually in a separate workshop space. ħuman 20:41, 23 April 2009 (EDT)

I think most of us are following Recent Changes still. If anyone really wants to find new stuff, there's always New Pages in special pages. Totnesmartin 08:55, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

True, though as someone said, things can get pushed off RC. And does anyone really ever check NP? Now, who knows if it will even get used, but since I usually monitor my watchlist (I prefer it to RC), I might like to receive such announcements. And, of course, all these groups are opt-in. However, I'm not wedded to it, it was just an idea - hence the intercom announcement asking for thoughts on it. ħuman 19:32, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

## Sunday Morning

So it was a typical Sunday morning. I woke, feeling sore from my violent acts the night before, and spent the better part of the morning wandering around in my bathrobe, smoking, swilling coffee and cursing those that wronged me. Then I dressed, showered and wandered into the street for my Sunday walk. I usually stroll into the city, pop codeine, buy beer and grab some breakfast.I was under instruction by the misses to buy a red-pepper. When I brought my beer I asked the kindly Indian chap at the counter if he had any. He said he might have some in the back so if I followed the passage, went round the corner and flipped the light switch then I would find a large storage fridge. I followed his instructions and found the fridge in question. I opened the door and, fucking hell, what in the name of sweet creeping Jesus is the odour. Such a dank, fruity, over-ripe oflactory sensation. I nearly vomited all over the counter and took leave from the store after berating the mans sanitary conditions. Whilst walking home, shuddering with memory and adjust sunglasses I saw a poster. Hmmmmm I thought, the reminds me of someone so I best take a photo and send it to them. However, only having my cellphone at hand, I had to take a less than sharp picture. I discovered when I got home that the picture I had taken on my cellphone was so grossly distored that I better find another source. See below. Ace McWickedThe Liquid Room 01:54, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

## Insults

"I'm simply observing that many archaeologists (and you) don't appear to understand how hard it is to apply to full rigor of the scientific method to archaeological ruins" How many (name one?) archeologists are you arguing don't understand the scientific method? Oh, and once again, you insult me. I don't care, but you take the trouble to do so. ħuman be in 07:54, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

If asserting that somebody doesn't understand something is an insult, then you have been insulting me throughout our debate, as you have told me there are a number of things I don't understand, don't know, etc. You set the rules -- either allow us to say "you don't understand this" or don't. But don't do it yourself and then get all huffy about me doing the same thing. It's hypocritical, and downright Schlaflyesque. Thanks. Ungtss 08:14, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
Ooh, "Schlaflyesque". I thought the debate had turned a new corner with the last two sections or so. And who is "us"??? ħuman 08:35, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
"Us" is you + me of course. You set the rule, I'll follow. Ungtss 09:10, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
OK, that was weird. I got "new messaged" on this earlier today, and now again? Is someone playing games with the DB? PS, Ungtss "you insult me. I don't care" should pretty much close that issue, eh? (<-- Me being TK) ħuman 08:52, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

OK, sorry, I probably mentioned it again, but I won't do so any more. But, really, cutting out an entire section is not the way to improve an article. Surely we can discuss the various "lines" in the section on the talk page and chuck the bad ones and keep the brilliance? ħuman 04:41, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
In the future, I'll try to talk it over more first. To be fair I did make a link in the place where the list had been. No hard feelings, and to be fair, I do think the list is pretty funny. Sorry about the same thread on three different pages. Jorge noes teh maths 04:45, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
It's OK. (I did see the link in the end, but obviously not on the talk page, where I added it) We all want the best for the site in the end, but sometimes we get caught up in "how" to make it better. It's quite likely that my deep love for the article the way it was will get overridden, well, that's OK, I'm not the boss of RW. As I said, I can keep a copy (or a diff link) if it matters to me. Let's just try to make the article the best it can be, RW-style, when we are done. ħuman 04:52, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

## Lacks Goat?

I hate to admit it, but I guess I'm just not in on the joke. Please enlighten me. Jorge is still sorry for whatever he did 22:16, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

Goats are a combined mascot/running joke here, possibly from the idea of "sheep" and "goats" in pop psychology - goats being the people who think for themselves. That's my guess anyway. Totnesmartin 22:21, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
I always took it to be the stereotypical assumption that the god-botherers think all us heathens, atheists and freethinkers are really sacrificing goats to Satan or whoever. --Kels 22:24, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, about that:visit my talk page if you need a sacrificing goat. — Unsigned, by: Cracker / talk / contribs
It's not even as deep as T and K above would imagine. An early/founding member, PalMD, started adding recipes mostly using goat, and the animal quickly became the "unofficial" RW mascot and running in-joke for whatever purpose it was needed. Perhap it's more fun to leave such facts in the mists of the distant past and let latterday mytholigists take over, though... ħuman 22:47, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
I was under the understanding that the recipies were put up after "sacrifice a goat" jokes were already common. Although that might have prompted making it the official unofficial mascot. --Kels 22:50, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
Hmmmm: "T and K above." An odd coincidence? T and K? Or a sigh of something more sinister? Amin7b5 23:06, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
Kels, did you lurk at RW1? Because I suspect the evidence may be buried under a deep layer of alluvial silt. If the meme popped up back then, it would have no archeological trace of its genesis on RW2, it would just appear fully-formed. And something in me makes me think the recipes were antediluvian. We should really get Trent to post the archive of RW1 on a sub-wiki, uneditable, to aid in our research of this evolution/creation debate. ħuman 23:13, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

Looking at the diffs, it wasn't more than a couple of weeks later stuff like recipe:goat vindaloo and recipe:goat burger got added, so maybe you're right. --Kels 23:23, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
As you can see, Doc was busy at it only two days after RW2 started, and the first recipes came a week into the new site. That's probably what started the downward spiral, since Doc and his Sock were very active and influential back in those days. ħuman 23:26, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

Jorge, "lacks goat" is RW slang for being off-mission, not funny, or otherwise decripitious in the view of at least one editor. We could say "lacks rationalwikiness", but since we have our official unofficial mascot, we can lean on that. Goatspeed! ħuman 02:55, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
