Kosher articles

The Jewish Internet Defence Force (JIDF) was an unofficial online advocacy/hacktivism group for the state of Israel, purportedly dedicated to opposing jihadism and antisemitism on the Web,[1] but more accurately it opposed Islam itself. The JIDF opposed all mosques[2] and castigated as hypocrites the opponents of the community center (mistaken as a mosque) near Ground Zero, on the grounds that mosques should be opposed everywhere, not just in Manhattan. Archives of its site indicate it was extraordinarily anti-Obama, with "barack hussein obama" [sic] having been the most common tag on any posts; a photo of Obama shaking hands with Mahmoud Abbas (a long-time leader of the Palestinian Authority) was displayed on the homepage.[3]

Controversial approaches[edit]

The JIDF's inflammatory attacks on Islam included "we are against ALL mosques, as they are tributes to the genocidal pedophile false prophet (idol) Muhammad, who was a murderer of Jews." They also condemned an imam as antisemitic for saying that Jews are "the scum of the human race, the rats of the world, the violators of pacts and agreements, the murderers of the prophets."[4] The disconnect did not appear to register: their attacks on demeaning rhetoric were interspersed with demeaning rhetoric.

Advocacy for the group frequently takes the form of tattling violations of Terms of Service on various websites to remove antisemitic comments or sites,[5] or drawing attention to the removal of pro-Israel comments or sites.[6] The JIDF claimed credit for "taking control" of an anti-Israel page ("Israel is not a country, de-list it!") on Facebook and removing its members.[7][note 1]

He's dead, Jim[edit]

Their website was last updated in December 2015, and the second-to-last update was in July 2014.[3] The site stopped existing entirely somewhere between 2018 and 2020.[8] As of 2023, it redirected to a strange, spammy-looking website with no apparent relation to the JIDF.
