Family could use some help. Please research the article's assertions. Whatever is credible should be sourced, and what is not should be removed.

A family generally refers to a group of people related by blood, marriage, or adoption. You may choose your friends, but generally have fewer options when it comes to your family, notwithstanding the marriage/adoption clauses. Others groups may refer to themselves as families, emphasizing their feelings or aims of closeness.

"Family" can also be a loaded word when used by conservatives, as in the Family Research Council. By framing themselves as being for families, they imply that the opposition is against families. Curiously, in such a paradigm, favored families look like nuclear families (which is to say, like havens of mutual love and respect and happy consumerism), whereas any alternative to this gets classified under the rainbow of dysfunctional "families", which merely provide evidence of moral decay — and which we should sort out, preferably by breaking them up for redistribution into orphanages and prisons.

Start your own family

Or join another family

Or increase your family size

Procreation

Do you really need advice on this?

Adoption

Now this is some food for your thought. As of 2019, there are approximately 153 million orphan children, most of them without families[1]. There are also approximately 1,588 million households worldwide[2]. So basically, if only a tenth of households adopted a child instead of procreating one, the orphanage crisis would be over in a day. Time to trend a new hashtag like #AdoptOne, right?

Or just hate on families that are "non-traditional"
