- But actually, I have a serious question, that I'm not able to pretend to ask in chinese. Do we want to standardize on simplified Chinese or traditional Chinese? That's kind of a big political issue, if I understand the tensions surrounding Hong Kong, Taiwan, and the mainland correctly. ikanreed 🐐Bleat at me 15:11, 26 September 2018 (UTC)
- Based just on number of readers, it should be simplified Chinese. Also if you look to Wikipedia, there are 2.5 million articles in simplified, and only 300,000 in classical.[1] Bongolian (talk) 17:27, 26 September 2018 (UTC)
- Chinese Wikipedia is in mixed script (both simplified and traditional). It is impractical to count for the incidence of each script since it is technically allowed to use mixed script in one single article. Classical Chinese is a distinct language, actually the proper written form in pre-Hu Shih days conforming to ancient writers. Classical Chinese Wikipedia is comparable to other Wikipedias in Chinese languages, namely Wu, Cantonese, Min Nan, etc. — 物灵 (talk) 10:59, 29 December 2023 (UTC)
