Who's asking? |
Doubtful News (sometimes Doubtful Newsblog) was a skeptical news aggregator focusing on cryptozoology and the paranormal "because people really believe this stuff." Run by Sharon A. Hill and Torkel Ødegård,[1] the blog was also formerly syndicated on Skeptic.com. It launched on August 25, 2011.[2]
The site was started to fill a gap in the market for a "one-stop source of breaking news of interest to critical thinkers that was not primarily straight science offerings or opinions."[1] It was useful in that it reports on more than just the major stories of the time — with the potential to report on lesser stories before they become big — and kept with a story after it faded from view, allowing followup information to be more easily found.
