Bilibili is what can be described to an extent,China's counterpart to Youtube. It is a video-sharing website with its location and headquarters based in Shanghai. The site's name is inspired by and derived from a character in an anime series, A Certain Scientific Railgun. Roughly 28.5 million paying users are active on the site.
Controversies[edit]
Bilibili attracted attention in February 2022 after an auditor who moderated content on the site was found dead in what was most likely a suicide. A factor in their death might have been attributed to China's long work hours. The death of the 25 year old employee was brought to light after a user on Weibo under the name Wang Luobei shared the information with his social media audience.
