Radovan Karadžić (1945–) is a genocidal war criminal who served as the president of Serbia. Like his ally Milošević, he was prosecuted for war crimes he committed during the Bosnian war against Bosniak and Croatian civilians, many of them being Muslims. An example of his egregious crimes being the Srebrenica massacre, where 8,000 Bosniak Muslim men and boys were slaughtered by Serbian soldiers on the orders of Karadzic himself.
Rise[edit]
Karadžić was born to an ethnic Serb family in Montenegro shortly after World War 2. His parents were among those in the Serbian army who lived in exile during the war, and were oppressed by the communist regime of Yugoslavia when they returned.
