2025 RationalWiki 'Oregon Plan' Fundraiser

There is no RationalWiki without you. We are a small non-profit with no staff—we are hundreds of volunteers who document pseudoscience and crankery around the world every day. We will never allow ads because we must remain independent. We cannot rely on big donors with corresponding big agendas. We are not the largest website around, but we believe we play an important role in defending truth and objectivity.

Fighting pseudoscience isn't free.

I find this quite bemusing. It's very in line with most of my thoughts on how everyone always thinks they're right ("of course I'm right, otherwise I wouldn't think it!!") and therefore their first port of call will be to think everyone else is dumber than them. Remember, 84% of drivers think they're above average. ADK...I'll abandon your nostril! 21:08, 21 October 2011 (UTC)

Essay stubs?[edit]

Do we have a policy about deleting stagnant essays if they don't have much to them? I'm fine if we just want to keep everything, but if we have a policy for essay deletion I think this article is a candidate for it.

It was only touched once 7 years ago, still seems unfinished and only lightly touches on a few points that have been well covered elsewhere. I'm 100% for keeping opposing viewpoints around no matter what they espouse and I think this site often deserves some ridicule thrown back at it, but this is just kind of mundane. I think this is covered entirely by Appeal to Shame, Dunning-Kruger Effect, Rationalwiki#Criticism, and probably RationalWiki:Pissed at us for good measure.

If it was more interesting I'd say it should be put in the drive-by essays category, because the user who wrote it seems to have been active for less than 2 hours. -MVHVTMV (talk) 06:25, 18 May 2017 (UTC)
