The republican party is a toxic morass of self-justifying ideology with no relationship to the real world or any sort of morality. Appeals to their better nature, chastisements about hypocrisy, praise for "good sense" in opposing the very worst their party, arguments in good faith of any kind: these are all useless. Utterly and completely.

You've intuited this, but I'm not sure it's gonna do any good. I feel like typical republican voters need to suffer deeply personal and undeniable harm directly to themselves before they ever consider reforming their views; that won't correct itself until massive crisis. The media's behavior is too simple and profit-seeking to not be easily manipulated by bad-faith arguments; that won't correct itself until systemic collapse of current media organizations(and the replacements will be worse). Intellectual honesty is at an all-time low, and still headed in a more dishonest direction. I'm still bracing myself for 2018 to have an open white nationalist or two take seats in the house. ikanreed 🐐Bleat at me 15:24, 26 October 2017 (UTC)

I know. This letter probably will not affect anything. But screaming into the wind feels better than just doing nothing. RoninMacbeth (talk) 15:53, 26 October 2017 (UTC)
Every time I think about what kinds of things I morally should be doing I get into a dark territory of morality that I don't like one bit. ikanreed 🐐Bleat at me 16:37, 26 October 2017 (UTC)
