2025 RationalWiki 'Oregon Plan' Fundraiser

There is no RationalWiki without you. We are a small non-profit with no staff—we are hundreds of volunteers who document pseudoscience and crankery around the world every day. We will never allow ads because we must remain independent. We cannot rely on big donors with corresponding big agendas. We are not the largest website around, but we believe we play an important role in defending truth and objectivity.

Fighting pseudoscience isn't free.

Fun talk:Morris Dancing

I must admit that I'm a bit tempted to put a mission doubt template on this. --Bobbing up 11:10, 9 November 2007 (EST)

I don't know. I think a case could be made that Morris Dancing is a problematic and deeply irrational issue which too few people are aware of. --AKjeldsenGodspeed! 11:25, 9 November 2007 (EST)
Mmmm. So you think it comes under: "2. Analyzing and refuting the full range of crank ideas."? I don't find myself completely convinced.--Bobbing up 11:29, 9 November 2007 (EST)
I've never participated but it seems to be a bloody good excuse to get ratted. If it was ethnic or tribal, ie not English, it'd be celebrated. Allegedly a hangover from pagan religion (doubtful?) it's fun for participants. BTW most morris doesn't use sticks. Susan... purrrrrr ... 11:39, 9 November 2007 (EST)
(I don't think it's on mission though -> Fun?) Susan... purrrrrr ...

I moved this to fun, since it probably is. Still, there's something about morris dancing. I'm sure it's some sort of conspiracy... --Jeeves 16:22, 9 November 2007 (EST)

Damn right it's a consipiracy. A conspiracy to get everyone good and drunk. I'll let you in, if you like. Researcher 19:39, 14 November 2007 (EST)

Explanation?[edit]

I'm an American, so I really don't get the animus against Morris dancing. I've learned how to dance here (not entirely properly, by some standards I've heard--we allow women to dance as well, and I know I prefer it that way), but I find it to be some of the most fun I've ever had. Where does the hatred come from? Researcher 05:27, 15 October 2009 (UTC)

Conservapedia and clog dancing==

CP does not have an article on clog dancing.

Is this part of the CD conspiracy so the poor ignorant CPers are not alerted to the dangers posed - Men dressing up - as horses (CP is agin cross dressing, and this possibly involves b*t*ity) and touching women with sticks in a suggestive manner (and you don't need Freud 'to know what that means') etc. 82.44.143.26 (talk) 17:13, 23 December 2011 (UTC)
