The renewal of the meme by covid anti-vaxxers and others[edit]
This old conspiratorial meme is being spread again, in a newer variation. If you search the web for "agenda 21 2030" (without quotes), you'll find examples, such as this, of claims that the old Agenda 21 combined with the newer (from 2015) 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is a plan to largely depopulate the world. Just like with Agenda 21, it's claimed that the 2030 Agenda conspiracy is open, for anyone to see just by reading the documents, and you can indeed go ahead and do so—and on reading it you confirm that the conspiratorial claim is indeed a stupid hoax, but those who spread the meme either don't check or don't care.
The 2030 Agenda is sometimes the more exclusive focus in recent memes, like here, where the wonderfully named "The Common Sense Show" describes how Goal #12 is about "exterminating six billion".
The nature of the 2030 Agenda vs. the claims about it is very similar to the case of the older Agenda 21, so if covered in an article, it may be better as a section of this one. --ApooftGnegiol (talk) 10:54, 22 August 2021 (UTC)
- David Icke's stuff is not really central to, but seems popular with popularizers of, these conspiracy memes. Here's a Buzzfeed article from last year touching on that among listing various other things on the topic. --ApooftGnegiol (talk) 11:14, 22 August 2021 (UTC)
- Some short initial text is now in place, to bring this article up to date at least. --ApooftGnegiol (talk) 15:35, 22 August 2021 (UTC)
