Talk:Big lie

Terry Pratchett, well DEATH in Hogfather, quotes that you have to believe the little lies before you believe the big lies. I.e., you believe the little lies like the Hogfather and Tooth Fairy and so on in order to believe the big lies like mercy, justice, duty, that sort of thing. Don't think it has anything to do with the propaganda term, but worth pointing out. Scarlet A.pngmoral 20:42, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

Bill Clinton was the master of the Big Lie. Talsley (talk) 17:01, 27 April 2012 (UTC)

Trump.[edit]

Perhaps Trump's assertion that he was responsible for proving that Obama was was born in the US should be here?--Bob"Life is short and (insert adjective)" 20:16, 18 September 2016 (UTC)

Nah. I already added it to the summary of the Obama citizenship denial article yesterday. You could insert a link to that article under "See also", though. Reverend Black Percy (talk) 20:49, 18 September 2016 (UTC)

How to reference without going Godwin?[edit]

I'm definitely seeing a lot of Big Lies floating about (most recently that the riot at the US capitol was a false flag operation organized by the Antifa Central Planning Division (a division of SorosClintonCo)), but the Nazi origins of the term make me very squirmy. - Immigrant laborer (talk) 16:47, 7 January 2021 (UTC)

Ugly listicle[edit]

Two problems:

1) Why is there a listicle in the introduction to the article?

2) Why do we need it, especially when there's no citations and it reads more like the personal opinions of editors (ie editorializing) rather than anything genuinely constructive?

It's a poor quality listicle that would probably be better off pruned or removed entirely. Carthage (talk) 18:14, 19 October 2023 (UTC)
