Sorry[edit]

...for this atrociously short stub. I love the movie, but not as much as other people cream themselves over it. I thought I could at least get it started. -- Seth Peck (talk) 19:40, 4 January 2012 (UTC)

As Slim Pickens would say[edit]

What the hell is that shit? I think Seth has got sexual issues of his own with his writing "the inability of the bomber crew to "perform" (drop the bomb) after much elaborate foreplay (in-flight build-up)". DeltaStarSenior SysopSpeciationspeed! 23:14, 9 October 2012 (UTC)

The entire movie was chock-full of sexual puns. The opening scene has even been suggested as the origin of Rule 34. Osaka Sun (talk)
Glad you know so much about my sexual abilities, DeltaStar, not that I go to great lengths to keep them secret. -- Seth Peck (talk) 15:46, 10 October 2012 (UTC)
What is 'Rule 34'? 86.146.100.119 (talk) 22:34, 30 April 2017 (UTC)
If it exists, there's porn of it. Rule 35 is if there isn't porn of it, it will be made, especially if you point out that it's an exception to Rule 34. RoninMacbeth (talk) 02:35, 1 May 2017 (UTC)
Two of the most important rules of fanfic then. (And the first derivative is 'some of the adult fanfic is weird, and some weirder than newcomers can imagine - and Arthur C Clark's phrase about the future being queerer than one can imagine reads 'queerer' as 'slashier' rather than the intended 'weirder'). 86.146.100.119 (talk) 13:31, 15 June 2017 (UTC)

Germ plasm?[edit]

The concept of germ plasm was not invented by Grant, but rather by August Weismann. As far as i know, it originally had no link to his racist theory. — Unsigned, by: 24.50.105.174 / talk / contribs

whoever came up with the concept, the idea that precious bodily fluids is a reference to it is a massive stretch. its an idea that only seems to be suggested in one article, the cited one, and that doesnt make a particularly convincing case - the author of the piece just asserts that it is. if it is a reference, then its the only one in the film. i am not convinced as there is no explicit or implicit racial element in the jack d rippers delusional ramblings, and i dont remember there being any in the rest the of the film either. everything the ripper character talks about in the film is parody of the fluoridisation as a commie plot conspiracy theory that was well known at the time, and generally believed to be ridiculous idea at the time too. grants theories were not so widely known to the general public of the day, in deed the cited article laments that there was no comedic take downs of them in the 30 years following the debate over grants ideas on race that the article is about. why then would anyone at the time of the movies release be expected to make a connection between precious bodily fluids and germ plasm, especially as there is nothing else in the film related to grants threories or even to race? when the precious bodily fluids in context fits perfectly well with the antifluoridisation conspiracy theory explicitly referenced by ripper in the film, why not assume its a part of that?
the bodily fluids/germ plasm is a massive stretch only made by the author of one article, and whoever cited it in our article. a hugely famous and popular film film such as dr strangelove would have had thousands of people going over every shot by shot, every line by line, yet no one else made this connection? because there is no connection AMassiveGay (talk) 13:07, 2 November 2024 (UTC)
