Talk:Examples of God personally killing people
Strange Fire[edit]
So what constitutes 'strange fire' - and is it OK to offer ordinary fire when drunk, or strange fire when sober? 82.44.143.26 (talk) 16:16, 11 October 2016 (UTC)
Why[edit]
doesn't God kill 'the Devil' and possibly the snake in the Garden of Eden? (Satan in Job seems to be relatively harmless as 'the powers that be' go - variously walking around Earth and observing things, making a bet with God, doing as God asked.) 31.49.137.244 (talk) 21:15, 20 May 2017 (UTC)
- Because the con' sarn' Bible doesn't add up in the least. Sorry for being curt, but there just isn't any way to soften the blow on that point. Reverend Black Percy (talk) 22:44, 20 May 2017 (UTC)
- The only thing the Bible definitely is not is 'a coherent text' (unsurprisingly) - but it is 'a good source for quote mining.'
- The people who accept that the Bible is a collection of documents of varying ages and levels of rewriting (and that the Ten Commandments can be summarised as 'Respect God' and 'Respect those around you') and that many of the things attributed to God are an attempt to explain why things happened in a pre-scientific world as we would understand it (but one in which technology existed) are likely to be creative contributors to RW - it is the Bible-literal-contortionists (who are able to hold both that 'God is good' #and# 'God is justified in destroying innocent bystanders on an industrial scale, and people who succumb to flaws that He allows to continue') who are the problem. 86.146.99.68 (talk) 09:40, 21 May 2017 (UTC)
Killing people is the least evil thing the god of the bible does![edit]
Having everyone tortured for eternity, because of what god did (Insane, irrational etc etc etc act) is far more evil than this evil god god just killing people--Whocares001 (talk) 04:58, 9 July 2017 (UTC)
God having 60 children killed by bears because they called a man bald[edit]
This is one of my favorite god murders. Should be in the list.
Made everyone able to die, god invented it[edit]
So is responsible for every human death that ever has been and ever will!--Whocares001 (talk) 05:01, 9 July 2017 (UTC)
For balance[edit]
Lists of killings by other deities should be included - with War Deities, Death Deities, and Disease Deities being separated out (as death is their purpose). Anna Livia (talk) 18:43, 5 February 2022 (UTC)
