im linking it to the napoleon article. and its not francian its french. im in a good place to know, IM FRENCH. Waronstupidity (talk) 22:36, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

You'll note that that is one thing I did not revert. also please sign your comments. -- Nx / talk 22:35, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, we know it's french, not francian. It's probably supposed to be a joke. So is the white flag. But I don't feel like edit warring. -- Nx / talk 22:40, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

well we got a *funny* article on france this is the serious one. INTERNET IS SERIOUS BUSINESS!Waronstupidity (talk) 22:42, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

I like where this is going. - π 22:48, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
Stop trying to whitewash our article exposing the follies of teh French, waronstupids. There can be some humor in this article, too. ħumanUser talk:Human 00:18, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
Except that the truth is funnier. - π 00:39, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
My favorite part of teh commentd page there? The link at the bottom that says "show profanity". Oddly, someone had written "conspicuous" and the "pi" was **'d out. Truth is indeed the strangler of fiction. ħumanUser talk:Human 02:00, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
That is because I am generally profane. - π 02:03, 10 March 2010 (UTC)

seriously guy if you think the french never won a war your dumb. Napoleon beat 6 coalition of more then 3 country before getting defeated by a seventh one. you really know nothing of history. and the use of that white flag joke is insulting. also the german during WW2 sent 70% of their army to invade France. heard of blitzkrieg? Waronstupidity (talk) 03:25, 10 March 2010 (UTC)

Which part of it's a joke do you not understand. -- Nx / talk 06:49, 10 March 2010 (UTC)

WE already have a JOKE article so why create 2 joke article? seriously.........Waronstupidity (talk) 08:01, 10 March 2010 (UTC)

Because funspace is actually mostly just for crap articles. And mainspace shouldn't be devoid of humeur either. The french surrendering is a common joke -- Nx / talk 08:06, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
I kinda agree with WOS - the article, while funny, should have a bit more fact to balance out the snark. As you're French, WOS, why don't you have a go? Just make sure the fact isn't entirely devoid of humour. Ajkgordon (talk) 08:00, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
WOS isn't even Francois, il et Quebecois. Not the same aminal. Not by a long shot. Les Quebecois sont de stupid, mes les Francais sont simply le surrendeur monquis. ħumanUser talk:Human 10:03, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
Oh, so why does he say above that he's French? I live in France but can't write for toffee. So, where does that leave us? Ajkgordon (talk) 12:10, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
Because his name is highly inaccurate. Stupid harmonic Phantom Hoover! 12:22, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

This article is still shit[edit]

Oh, bits of it are good - the opening paragraph for one. But the whole France at war section is tired and the most unfunny writing trying to be funny I've read in a long time. Just deleting that whole section would make the article a hundred times better. Seriously, it might have been faintly amusing in 2003. And before anyone says it, I'm not going to re-write it cos i don't rite good.

That is all. Ajkgordon (talk) 21:16, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

Maybe France ain't all that funny after all. Besides, I'm not even aware of any particularly great French chocolate. Now Belgium on the other hand, that's a whole another story... --Idiot numbre 188 (talk) 21:25, 4 January 2011 (UTC)
Oh, good French chocolate is very good. But yes, I wasn't aware that the French were especially known for making chocolate. That's the Belgians and the Swiss I thought. Another reason why this article is shit. Ajkgordon (talk) 21:30, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

Hey guys[edit]

Does it sometimes worry you that your article on France is way more bigoted and conservative than Conservapedia's? Just a heads up.

France likes to surrender! Also, what's the deal with airline peanuts?? 90.62.119.5 (talk) 22:38, 13 February 2011 (UTC)
BoN is correct. Ajkgordon (talk) 11:10, 14 February 2011 (UTC)
As a committed Francophile I both agree and disagree. What I would propose is that the article is moved to Fun:France which would show the puerile (but funny) snark for what it is. Jack Hughes (talk) 11:43, 14 February 2011 (UTC)
On the other hand has anyone looked at our other articles on differing countries. Snark, snark, snark, each and everyone of them. Why should France be picked out as somehow special (apart from the fact that it is). Jack Hughes (talk) 16:26, 14 February 2011 (UTC)
I've got more beef with the fact that a good half of the article is terribly written and reads like a Cracked.com list of national stereotypes. Seriously, there's plenty to be made fun of in France that's not fucking surrender jokes from 1950. What with all the neocolonialism & islamophobia and shit. 86.205.116.35 (talk) 17:52, 14 February 2011 (UTC)
Then rewrite it yourself. ТyAn inexperienced, yet fumble potato chip? 17:55, 14 February 2011 (UTC)

France race's problems[edit]

"france has race's problems who would make kkk jealous"

Can you precise that bit, please? — Unsigned, by: 109.213.254.114 / talk / contribs 19:13, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

I have to admit, i've not read the article but that line would goad me a bit as well. Pink mowse.pngGodot Warning, chocolate will make your clothes shrink 19:19, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
Sure it has racial problems. It has not been as good at integrating its large immigrant population, mostly north African muslims, as well as many other wealthy countries. But I would say, from an admittedly ignorant position, that these problems pale into insignificance compared to those in the US. Ajkgordon (talk) 19:24, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
Exactly. There is a growing fear of the growing numbers of Muslims, especially in Paris, and to a lesser extent the southern cities like Nice, which has generated a lot of backlash laws (un-veiling laws, schools not serving halal foods, etc.) and there is horrible unemployment in the banlieues which causes serious tensions, and no one can understand what the French versions of CHAVS say - but you know, it's life in any large city. London, NY, even Tokyo is starting to see this kind of economic/social disparity.Pink mowse.pngGodot Warning, chocolate will make your clothes shrink 19:30, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
Whenever I see unoriginal French stereotype piss-taking I think "Mais putain merde alors". This article is one such occasion. It isn't even funny. Ajkgordon (talk) 19:35, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
I had that issue. As I said earlier, Hubby read it, and mostly laughed, but still it's so very sterotypical from people who have clearly never been there. And what the heck is the "surrender" issue. Where did that get started in American minds, Americans REALLY think that the french are weak. hello, the only reason we won our damn war against the UK was cause of the French. And they basically made the backbone of WWI, and had the hell bombed out of them... course, they will sell anything to anyone... I get that jokes are fun, but this is just trite, really.Pink mowse.pngGodot Warning, chocolate will make your clothes shrink 19:41, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
The surrender thing is born out of a pretty lousy record in WW2 and fucking up in Indochina followed by USians getting all stroppy when Chirac said it was a pretty stupid thing to invade Iraq and "Non" France would not support it. That was, in effect, the beginning of the whole world being on America's side post 9/11 to almost total lost of international respect. They fucked up badly but partially blame the French aided by a throw-away line in one of the American adult cartoons (Simpsons?) about surrender monkeys. I think. Ajkgordon (talk) 19:53, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

orignal poster here. i understand that article is a joke but could you modify that point please? We don't hang our muslims yet.

I understand if you didn't read it, but I changed it almost an hour ago, after I made my comment.Pink mowse.pngGodot Warning, chocolate will make your clothes shrink 21:02, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

By the way, why has this never been moved to "fun:france?"Pink mowse.pngGodot Warning, chocolate will make your clothes shrink 21:08, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

  • All right, since this is the main article, I decided to pull the "French at War" section and moved it to the equivalent Funspace article for the time being. I'm going to put a more balanced version up in the next few weeks that has major French vicories as well as defeats, and maybe try and clean this general article up so that it doesn't sound like a "a Cracked.com list of national stereotypes" as a previous editor put it. Massive edit[edit]

Don't know where he got it from, but a new editor made big changes three minutes after creating an account. I suspect a ctrl-v job. Where's it from, though? SophieWilder 16:36, 19 June 2013 (UTC)
